Blows Chipotle out of the water with their real deal Texas 'cue. Get an "El Tres Bowl" with Smoked Brisket Double Meat. Don't miss the corn, guac, and squash toppings! Read all about it below! Read more

The brisket and pork are smoked for about 16 hours and both are very good. The chicken gets a quick turn in the smoker, too, making it sweet and juicy. Read more

Winner! It's like a fancier Chipotle with smoked BBQ meats. Their meat guy comes from Salt Lick near Austin, TX. Try different combos of meats and toppings with the "charred" hot sauce.

The pork shoulder and the brisket are both awesome, but if they have the pork belly as their weekly smoke, GET IT! It's so amazing it should seriously be on the menu full-time.

Get the brisket duh. But also get in a bowl. That way you can taste the meat individually. This place is light years better than chipotle and also better than dos toros. But the line moves way slow.

You can't go wrong with a brisket burrito. Everything is always fresh and I can honestly say after having a burrito from Tres Carnes I don't go anywhere else.

Brisket salad bowl is absolutely delicious (ask for habanero sauce if you like spicy), but portions are smaller than nearby Chipotle and Choza.

Still deciding if I can cosign this place. The burritos are distinctly different from anything else you'll get in NYC, more barbecue than spice. Pretty damn good but different enough to think twice

The specials are always worthwhile - recent items ranged from Antelope (!) to Lamb to Bison, which are a great answer to your coworker who wants to go to Chipotle.

These folks smoke their meats to perfection and add dynamite rice, beans & guac to create some of the best damn burritos on the Isle of Manhattan.

Vegetarians: eat here! The green poblano rice and beans are cooked in vegetable broth. Try a rice bowl with the street-cart corn and roasted squash.

Chipotle on steroids. If you asked for mixed meats you usually get more food. If you want something lighter you can ask for greens instead of rice.

The brisket tacos are amazing. Don't overload them with add-ons, this isn't Chipotle. The guy running this place knows what he's doing, I promise.

Awesome flavors. Brisket is a must. The taco portions were TINY though. Not near enough meat for the price. Bowl is the move to make.

If you choose to eat here, just half a block from a Chipotle, just know you're funding the opening salvo of a full scale burrito war that could have untold effects on NYC.

Brisket and chicken bowl was good (brisket was good, though I couldn't really taste chicken). But it was too expensive, & although a bit better than chipotle, all these places taste the same
