Buy ticket online and avoid long lines even before ship opening. I was on board before ticket windows even opened for those who didn't buy online.

Take a docent tour. The vets who give the tours are great historical story tellers.

Don't bother paying for the parking at the museum. Drive further up toward Coronado and there is metered parking lot where you can get three hours for $2.50

An amazing tour. The aircraft carrier was retired not too long ago and all the tours are led by experienced pilots and crew.

Definitely need two days to see everything. Make sure you wear sunscreen up on the flight deck.

Get there early, so you have lots of time and wear shorts, if you can. It gets HOT on the lower decks.

Midway was stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1997. During the decommissioning process, she was used to film portions of the documentary 'At Sea', showing at the Navy Museum in Washington D.C.

If you do not want to pay the $18.00 admission, but still would like to see the flight deck for free, just ask for "Bay Access" at the ticket center and you will be granted a free tour by a volunteer. Read more

The USS Midway has been turned into a floating museum and it's really cool. They keep opening up new sections of the ship, so I've been three times and each time there is something new to see!

Commissioned in 1945, USS Midway (CV-41) was an aircraft carrier of the US Navy and is the only remaining aircraft carrier of the WW II era that is not an Essex-class ship.
