If you guys have the chance to have a short visit to Sofia, Bulgaria, believe me it’s worth doing it, going around the Cathedral and entering for some silent minutes, it is a must!
I think it looks like a big birthday cake. The interior on the other hand doesn’t live up to the exterior, not very well kept, dark. Love the fleamarket held in the park nextdoor during the weekends.
Enormous church, must visit while in Sofia. Asking 10 leva for permission to take photos with your own phone is very bad practice,would be better to forbid cameras at all than commercialise religion.
If you go into the cathedral be wary of the signs with pictures of cameras on them. If you start taking pictures the priests will collect their fee from you.
The gold-plated dome is 45 m high (148 ft), with the bell tower reaching 53 m (174 ft). The temple has 12 bells with total weight of 23 tons, the heaviest weighs 12 tons, the lightest - 10 kg (22 lb).
