    ♪かもめの水兵さん、ならんだ水兵さん・・・♪で知られる童謡の碑です。かもめの水兵さんは1937年（昭和12年）に発表された日本の童謡で作詞は武内俊子、作曲は川村光陽です。武内さんが作詞を行ったきっかけは、ハワイに旅行する叔父を見送るために横浜港の大さん橋に行って、夕暮れの中で数十羽のかもめに魅了され、帰途でかもめの白い姿を水兵に見立てて詞を完成させましたとのことです。

    一、 かもめの すいへいさん ならんだ すいへいさん 白いぼうし 白いシャツ 白いふく 波にちゃっぷ ちゃっぷ うかんでる 二、かもめの すいへいさん かけあし すいへいさん 白いぼうし 白いシャツ 白いふく 波をちゃっぷ ちゃっぷ こえていく ...この歌が描く光景は横浜港そのもの。今も氷川丸の周りはかもめが飛び交っています。
