【千葉県指定有形文化財】「旧川崎銀行佐倉支店」大正7年、川崎銀行(現三菱UFJ銀行)の佐倉支店として建設され、昭和12年には佐倉町に売却された後、佐倉町役場となりました。その後市立図書館～新町資料館を経て市立美術館の開館に合わせてエントランスホールとして利用されるようになりました。

マンホールカード第16弾、千葉県佐倉市のマンホールカード（A001）は令和4年1月15日から配布開始となりました。配付時間は10:00〜18:00（入館は17:30まで）、ただし月曜日（月曜日が祝日の場合は翌日）及び年末年始（12/28〜1/4）はやすみです。

短い辺が正面に見えるように並べた小口積み、俗に「ドイツ積み」と言われるレンガ壁に見えますが、実際はレンガ積みの躯体にドイツ積みを模したタイルを貼り付けてあります。近くで見ればレンガではないのは一目瞭然だけどね。

川崎銀行佐倉支店として 1918 年に建てられた煉瓦造 2 階建、タイル張りのドイツ風ルネサンス様式の建物。設計は矢部又吉。ルスティカ積みの腰回りやドリス式オーダーを両側に配した正門など、シンプルながら随所に銀行らしい重厚さが伺える。

外観だけ往時の意匠を残したファサード保存のようにも見えるけど、新館は背後に建てられており１階だけが接続されて美術館のエントランスホールとなっています。
