Say hello to Hachikō, cross the famous Shibuya Crossing. Shop at Center Gai (main shopping street), and spend all your money at Loft and the a-maz-ing Tokyu Hands, there is now a café on the 9th floor
Love this guy. I've watched the movie in Japanese... and the re-make with Richard Gere. Cried both times. Of course, the Japanese one is much better... ;)
This statue is built for remembering the story of the LOYAL DOG which always WAITING HIS MASTER after the office hour in front of this station until one day his master NEVER COMEBACK #TravellingTokyo
Once you get off at the Shibuya station, go out the Hachiko Exit to see his murals and statue. There is also the Hachiko bus that goes around Shibuya for 100JPY.
Hachiko would wait every day for his master outside the entrance to Shibuya. I find it fascinating & wonderful that the Japanese people would honor Hachiko with a statue for his devotion.
Hachiko's story is so beautifully touching. You guys should watch the movie. I really hate how they made a smoking booth right next to the Hachiko statue. Why would you do that?! Ruined it for me.
Can be a little hard to find as there's always a lot of people here, but it's on the right side of Shibuya Crossing if you're facing away from the station.
Take a few minutes to observe the people around you. They're all waiting for someone. Despite the crowd, Hachiko is still a favourite rendezvous point.
