    【国指定重要文化財】…旧日本生命九州支店として指定。明治時代のわが国を代表する建築家辰野金吾、片岡安の設計により明治42年(1909)竣工。 尖塔やドームを有するなど小規模ながら変化に富む。赤煉瓦と白の石材の組み合わせは19世紀末に英国で流行したスタイル。平成2年（1990）3月まで市歴史資料館として活用され、１９９４年には建築当時の内装を復元、現在は談話室等を備えた「福岡市文学館」となっています
