If you came early enjoy a coffee and sweets in Grand Cafe 1e Klas. Once a waiting room for the 1st class passengers today it's a beautiful art nouveau cafe with authentic athmosphere.
Forget all the fast food choices and treat yourself instead with a nice book or another nice gift that will nourish your body/mind. And have a beautiful day exploring wild and wonderful Amsterdam!
Easy to navigate and very quick to get to Schiphol. Little tip: buy your ticket from the Netherlands railway operators website to save a euro per ticket!
Welcome to the Amsterdam central station. In order to build it, the construction workers had to put up three artificial islands that stand on 8687 wooden piles that are dug into sand.
This tran station is really beautiful and photogenic. Trams depart and arrive at the front, and busses arrive and depart from the back of the station. Its really close to attractions and restaurants.
If u r taking the train to brussels bring ur snacks before u get into the train. What they have is a guy with a bag after the 5th stop. Also, becarful, its 15b which is in the back after letter G
Easy access to/from Schiphol and to the major sites of the city. Trams are located right outside. Use the free WiFi to get your bearings, then enjoy one of the best cities in the world!
Amsterdam Centraal is the largest railway station of Amsterdam. Used by 260000 passengers a day, it is the second-busiest railway station and the most visited national heritage site of the Netherlands
A very grand, open train station with routes to the rest of The Netherlands and Europe. Good selection of shops, serving snacks and hot food. Direct trains to and from Schiphol airport (approx 20mins)
Old vintage look from outside and new fancy shops/restaurants inside. One of the best railway stations in Europe. One can take the train, bus, tram or even ferry (free 😎)!
Renovations are finally starting to pay off. Plenty of new stores and food options (go to the Julia's at the very back of the station on the IJ-zijde; there's plenty of seats).
Breakfast at Central - even if rest of Amsterdam is slow to wake up to breakfast, there’s plenty of options here. Always good for a grab-and-go. Never disappoints you with the options.
It's getting real fashionable in here, nice stores good food and drinks there is a Starbucks a Hema, 3 Albert Heijn grocery stores and a lot more if u have time just make a stroll :)
Many food & retail units are beyond the ticket line barriers, for rail passengers only. IJpassage is the only link between the north and south sides of the station inside. Links outside at either end
Take a look at the front of the building. Lovely and meaningful architecture here, going back to the times of slavery and the discovery of spices, tea, and coffee.
Huge train station with a lot of trains. Be careful not to be in the wrong platform and double check before boarding on a train. If in doubt ask one of the NS employees, they are very helpful.
if you have time, you can quickly leave your luggage at the cloakroom & go out take a left & head straight for bars, street food & the red light is all at the corner.
Buy a OVchipkaart And load it with credits for publictransport instead of buying single tickets; easier and useable in the hole of the Netherlands. Looking for a daytrip? Consider Texel.
Central Station is where everything and everyone in and out of Amsterdam come together, to continue their journeys in all different directions. Stop by Beurs van Berlage and see it glow in pink!
Beautiful architecture, free wifi and good information center. If you are a foreigner and want to charge your OVA card, you better have some coins with you.
If you eat here, go grab a €0,50 discount coupon from sanifair toilet. Nobody grabs them and there are tons of them waiting to be printed; grab one from the entry machine.
