The menu is simple and straightforward: burritos, tacos and quesadillas stuffed with either carnitas, grilled chicken, steak or rice and beans, plus a healthy serving of cheese, salsa and sour cream. Read more
I love this tiny place for their Burrito🌯 & tacos🌮 You can feel the freshness in their food. The road facing table is my favorite spot to seat. I bet you wouldn't go to Chipotle after having this
Big, hearty burritos with satisfying meat fillings and fresh toppings. The tortillas are cooked with corn oil for a more authentic taste. Dos Toros is the indie Chipotle; definitely worth a visit!
Favorite chain burrito! Not only is the food delicious, it’s perfectly seasoned and not too salty, but they roll one mean burrito which always holds its shape and structure.
The trick is to ask what's best (or, what staff is having) that day. Every burrito is fantastic-but the gems are what new innovation hit today. All salsas/sauces made in house daily.
Dont get - any tacos, quesadillas, chicken, or the super hot sauce. Do get - burritos, platos (burrito bowls), guac, green hot sauce, w/ steak or pork. Some of the best guac in NYC.
One thing that's often overlooked but crucial is the way a burrito is constructed. The ratio of its ingredients, how they're laid out, and how the burrito is rolled. This place gets it right.
Eat your heart out, Chipotle. The burritos here are far removed from the assembly linefair from Chipotle. Everything, really, is fantastic. They're not playing around with that hot sauce, though.
1st time here, I had the steak quesadilla & jarritos soda. Enjoyed it both for $12. The quesadilla's crust was crisp and the steak were juicy pieces. This place gets two thumbs up
The carnitas (pork) are seared and slow cooked, leaving them juicy and flavorful, with the right amount of salty kick before being wrapped in corn tortilla along with toppings of your choice. Read more
Cults love this taco joint because they say it's "the closest thing to California Mexican in NYC." Fun fact: Dos Toros was started by a previous member of The Morning Benders.
The rice is made with chicken stock, so vegetarians might be tempted to steer clear. Mistake! For $5 you can get a quesadilla stuffed with salsa, guacamole, beans and cheese, and you won't regret it.
Always get as much guac as humanly possible. In the burrito, on the side, with chips, etc. You won't regret it!! (Oh yeah, and always order a burrito!)
The Carne Asado taco will knock you over the head with the smoky taste of the meat. Though the guacamole is optional, make sure to pay up because without it your taco will be severely diminished.
As a former San Diegan, I'm always looking for a kick of spice and Dos Toros' hot sauce does this and more. The Carne Asada Burrito is my top pick but this monster needs to be shared. —Dara
Killer order: basic quesadilla with vegetables and guacamole. Because the basic comes with rice and beans, it's like a burrito—but the tortilla is grillllled. And even with guac, it costs less.
The anti chipotle/qdoba - this West Coast import definitely makes its mark on the East Coast mexican food world. Juicy meats, fresh tortillas, greatt guacamole, and amazing spicy sauces! A favorite!
I know you want to get that chicken burrito with everything on it. Resist the urge. Get the carnitas tacos with only a dash of pico de gallo and cheese. They're pure, essential, and extraordinary.
If your not feeling up for a big burrito, skip the rice and beans and get a quesadilla. It's wrapped up in a tortilla so it looks like a small burrito, but cheaper and less filling. Yummy
Everything you've heard is right. This place is phenomenal.Protips: -*fiesta* burrito = w/ both black+pinto beans-Guac's just +$1!-No more than a splash of hot sauce (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
This is the only place that I have found in the city that compares to the California Mexican taste. Go with the carne asada - tacos or burrito...you can't go wrong either way.
real taqueria with just 15 seats, cooks chopping meat and cilantro as you walk in, 2 tacos de carnitas for 7 dollars and a stinging cold can of tecate for 2 bucks and a quarter and a nickel
This place is amazing!!! Best veggie burrito around! As a vegetarian, I am annoyed about the rice having chicken stock in it, but I am willing to break my strict vegetarianism for that! 5 stars!
Cal Mex has never been better here than at this San Francisco-style burrito joint. The carne asada tacos are one of our faves, bulging with tender marinated steak. Don't forget to spring for the guac
Two friends from Berkeley, CA came to NY to bring a true California burrito to a burrito wasteland. Modeled after Gordo’s burritos, it’s impossible to tell the difference. Get the Pollo Asado! Jeremy
Hierarchy of meats: steak > chicken > pork. Bonus tip: the super hot sauce is best used on the side. They'll apply too liberally if you ask them to add it.
This San Francisco style mexican restaurant really hits the spot with their quesadillas and burritos, but don't get one without their guac, it's the best!
