20-30min. train trip from Lisbon to Sintra. Absolutely beautiful and definitely worth it. The gardens are like a maze! Take a map and make sure to explore the caves too!

This place is absolutely worth a visit because of its gardens. Take about 2 hours to explore them. It's only a short walk from the historic center of Sintra so no need to take a taxi.

Plan to spend at least 2 hours wandering around the most wonderful and quirky garden you will ever experience. More quirky than Park Guell in Barcelona maybe.

Awesome place to visit, specially during hot days. Very cool, with plenty to see, even if you just want to stay in the gardens. They should ask for money (tickets) and use it for some renovations.

A must-see day trip from Lisbon. Basically a playground for adults. Give yourself a few hours to explore all the hidden tunnels and staircases.

Secret passages, beautiful mansion, Dante's inferno realized in a well, definitely one of my favorite places in sintra. Would revisit with kids. They would have a blast

Nice old house. The really magnificent thing is the garden with its many hidden paths and stairs leading up and down the hills, little grottos like secret paths, stunning plants...

Underground grottos and alchemy influenced architecture. Little scary and on the dark side, but great design and implementation. 100+ pages of drawings and 12 years of work.

Probably the best site of interest in Sintra. Def must! Do it and Montserrat, then can skip Pena and Sintra Royal Palace in town. Initiation Well is amazing

Gorgeous. Gets very crowded, even on weekdays in low season. Go first thing in the morning (10 am) preferably, or last thing before close.

This is the best place in Sintra. You can spend the whole afternoon and dont see everything. For me: better than the castles.
