An Austin original, Houndstooth is a coffee aficionados paradise, dolling out a variety of fine espresso, pour over, house brew, expertly frothed cappuccinos, and a tasty variety of pastries. 5/5
Went here more than daily on my last Austin visit for their truly excellent espresso) with several choices of beans). The unique coffee julep is worth a try. They have breakfast tacos if you're early.
What an excellent cup of fresh pour-over coffee. This is not a frilly girly sugary coffee drink place. They are purists who specialize in real coffee, espresso, cappuccino, etc. very, very good.
Excellent coffee, has a few pastries and treats you can buy to go with. Great space for working. The 5GHz wifi doesn't reach the outdoor patio unfortunately.
the banana walnut bread and cold brew. lots of seating for a meeting or quick work in your computer including outdoor patiocoffee stand. they sell counter culture and pt's coffee
Awesome coffee shop in downtown Austin. Excellent selection of coffee (hot and iced). They do coffee tastings twice a week. Grab a seat by the window and linger all afternoon.
I would be pretty disappointed with the flavour of this espresso in NYC or Australia, so it pains me to say that this is the best flat white in Austin.
These guys know what they are doing. If you are looking for a good fresh cup, this is the place to go. Nice single origin pour overs available and good beans
Everything everything everything! Get any of the beans on the clever, make sure you have 5 mins to spare-worth it! Excellent staff as well. Top notch courtesy and coffeeknowledge.
As far as I could tell, this is the only place in Austin that takes coffee seriously - possibly nobody wants to try to compete, because they do it very well indeed. Pour-overs are the thing here.
This coffee shop comes well supplied with addictive Cuvée and Tweed coffee beans as well as baristas that pour out the tastiest and most gorgeous rosettas in the city.
Serves up counter culture coffee. You'll find plenty of computer engineers here. They also have an extensive tea list and we opted for an earl grey tea latte instead.
A multi-method and multi-roaster, which means that alongside regular roasters (like Cuvee, Intelligentsia, etc.) they bring in guest coffees all the time.
Mod rustic in tone, atmosphere is both open and welcoming, however they get failing grades on lack of plugs. Staff is knowledgable and awesome as you would come to expect. Good place for a meetings.
This ain't no kiosk no mo'! Come get a shot of single originespresso while ogling their as-of-yet not in use siphons. Coffee culture is alive and well in Austin!
Set up your laptop, drink a million coffees and power through that to do list. Thanks to Supper for the recommendation: http://supper.mx/places/houndstooth-coffee-austin/
