Super Nacho Hourhappy hour is outstanding. Vegannachos kickass even for omnivores. Off menupuffy tacos are also awesome. Check their site for daily happy hour times.
The best Tex-mex in Los Angeles. The puffy tacos are the best tacos I’ve had in California and the guacamole is the best I’ve ever had. The spicy margaritas are bomb (though a bit pricy).
Guacamole, chicken & shrimp puffy tacos with braised Brussels sprouts in chipotle sauce is a perfect meal for sitting at the bar. Recommend enjoying a mezcal (or tequila) margarita or two.
Chef Jose Centeno's Bar Ama is two restaurants in one: one serving decadent Mexican-American food and one striving that serves next-generation riffs on Mexican ingredients and California produce Read more
The green enchiladas and the puffy tacos are the standouts here...literally the best I’ve ever had. Don’t skip the dessertcocktail, it will pleasantly surprise you.
Great Tex-Mex small plates by the chef behind Baco Mercat. We loved the Brussels, cauliflower, pig ears, enchiladas, and fried chicken. The real gem are the off-menu puffy tacos.
Everything looks amazing. My first time - I tried the pestocauliflower, sweet potato with sea salt and butter, and the puffy taco. Make a reservation though because it was packed
Do not miss the perfectly caramelizedsweet potatoes, the fried brussels sprouts, and the guacomole, which just might be the best in the city. Read more
Best food in LA other than his other restaurants! LOVED the potatopuffy taco, cauliflower, and mole enchiladas. Ceviche was to die for. El bramble and the margaritas were great drinks!
Order the off menushrimp and cheesy potatopuffy tacos. Pig ears are amazing. Also, never thought these words would come from my mouth, but the cauliflower is INSANE.
Quite possibly the best Mexican food with a modern twist we have ever tasted. If you love traditional Mexican food then the puffy tacos and the rice are a good place to start. Read more
Good God...dinner was fantastic! We shared and chowed on the Tex-Mex queso with chorizo (served w/ homemade chips, ask for flour tortillas too). I had Mom's Green Enchilada's - super yum!
Holy SHIT! #1 -we're originally from TX and miss Tex-Mex! #2 -some of the best headcheese (aka 'jamon de cabeza') we've had in a while.. #3 -fucking Leche Quesada/Burnt Milk Pudding FTMFW!!
Bar Ama's Super Nacho Hour, Saturdays from 3 pm to 5:30 pm, is cheap and delish, offering chorizonachos, guacamole, and fish tacos, along with the restaurant's full cocktail menu.
Definitely will be in my top List in LA. These guys have the ambition, seems like they aim to be the best Mexican around. Slow roasted Cabrito! A must.
(2/16/2018) FYI, the Broccolini has walnuts. I’m allergic so I wish I would have known in advance before eating it 😖. Manager was very apologetic and took it off our bill.
The drinks were great, and so was the seared lengua, but everything else I tried was okay. I'm afraid Tex-Mex just can't be dressed up, no matter how good a chef you are.
If you are like the many ppl I overheard asking the bartender what a michelada is, then order one here. Kielbasataco was more delicious than I anticipated.
The daily cevicheappetizer is a must. Perfect for sharing but could be a light meal all by itself. A great alternative if you're bored with sushi. Read more
I have finally found it! The BEST Mexican food I have had in LA to date. Literally everything we ordered (and we ordered a lot) was so fire. Ask for their suggestions and ask for their spicy margarita
