Worth paying for! Came here after lunch; spent almost half the day here, exploring the castle grounds and the many towers, dungeons and rooms. The oldest building in Edinburgh is here! Don't miss it!
Take the free tour, only takes about 30 minutes. Very informative but not too much. Ends at the top so you can work your way back down to castle gate with what was most interesting to you. Great views
You can’t not go! Save this for a clear day of weather if you have the choice. Book tickets and go early! Top tip - join the free hourly guided tour. The war memorial inside is moving and poignant.
I Love this Castle, such a great history and important landmark! You can see the Scottish Jewels, the stone of Destiny and St. Margaret’s Chapel, the oldest building in Edinburgh. Worth the money!
Huge place to explore the many war museums within the castle. Don’t miss seeing the Crown Jewels and there are mediaeval musicperformances in the Great Hall. Views are amazing too.
1st stop when visiting Edinburgh! Needs a min of 2hrs. Buy the ticket from hop on/off bus stops. Views all around the castle r amazing & there's so much to c when ur in. Check prisons of war section
Enjoy the walk up to the castle and through the high street. Prebook your ticket, it sells out quickly in peak season. The view is obstructed from the square during the Edinburgh Tattoo.
You will need at least 3 hrs to visit everywhere in the castle. At 15:15 most areas are getting closed. Choose ur time slot wisely. Price is 20£ for one person. Great view and clearly told history.
Amazing views and war histories of Scotland. Hit the Crown Jewels first and work your way backwards using the audio guide. Get in line 1/2 hour early for the first time slot for minimal crowds.
Be sure to watch the 1 o'clock gun fire. Lots to see at this castle and the view is breathtaking. A visit to Edinburgh is not complete wo visiting the castle 😊
Well worth a visit. Buy your tickets online to skip the queue, we did it whilst waiting in line. Oh and take a storm proof umbrella if it’s raining... it gets very windy up there!
It's really worth the money you pay for it. The venue is amazing as well as the tour. Last but not least the is stunning! Make sure you do book in advance tough to guarantee your entry.
Why are you reading this? Go already! History buffs, the Stone of Scone is reason enough. Look for the submerged tower by the W.C.'s near the jewels. Good stories there. Prisons as well. Great guides!
Stunning views over the city. Great place to visit!! Try to be there at 1 pm for the 1pm cannon shot. Very friendly staff and interesting guides. BOOK IN ADVANCE!! (To avoid a big queue)
It is a Nice Castle, but in NoWay my Favorite ~ There are so many prettier castles to view: Buy the 5 Day Pass & Use the Fast Track if you are going to do Edinburgh Castle!
Went to see the light show, what a great experience. Like how they told some history through the light show. The light display was really entertaining and really enjoyable.
Beautifull old and historic castle, where some parts are still active. They shoot in the aire around 13.00 clock. You have free tours so dont have to pay for the audio :)
Buy tix online and you self print them at the door and avoid the long lines. The gun fire is at 1pm everyday but Sunday. Get the free tour that runs every 20mins, it lasts for about 40mins.
You can’t not go! Save this for a clear day of weather if you have the choice. Book tickets and go early! Top tip - join the free hourly guided tour. The war memorial inside is moving and poignant.
If you want to know more about the Scottish Army, you would probably enjoy a trip to the castle. But if you are more interested in the life back then, you‘d probably be disappointed.
Such a historic building, so many stories of male prisoners trying to escape, by cross dressing as maids, always seemed to have worked in-spite of their beards! Wonder round the old town afterwards.
♥ "Hilda O's"ditty. This may be apocryphal: I heard of some US tourists overheard saying "Oh, wow, look at the Castle! It's so cool they built it right next to the train station & shops" *roll eyes*
The tickets felt pricey at first, but there was a lot to see and a lot of history to learn about. The views of Edinburgh from within the castle are stunning.
The most beautiful castle I've ever seen! Don't forget to go to whisky shop, and take some shots of this delicious, famous and unforgettable Scott drink.
A rip off (17pp), half price for English and free for Scotland Heritage members. The castle is a theme park rather than a historical place - too many tourists, shops and cafes. Go for the view only.
Breathtaking view on the outside, boring on the inside. Royal chambers have been transformed into an "exhibition" of long ass stair climbing only to end with a small display of the Crown Jewels.
Perched on an extinct volcano, this recognisable fortress is a powerful national symbol and part of Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site. Winner of Best UK Heritage Attraction.
A visit to Edinburgh is unthinkable without seeing the famous 3000 year old fortress castle set high up above the city. While there, Jenners will be lit up in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Read more
They say you can hear murdered prisoners' screams from within the 1,000 yr. old vaults, plus it's built on top of an ancient volcano. So it's definitely a must-do. Hotel Reco: http://bit.ly/1aiZ1Cn
