Everything I've had here is the best version of that thing I've ever had. Great oysters, lobster roll, clam chowder. All very, very good. But expect to wait a while to get seated, it's a small place.
The hot lobster roll was incredible. Generous amounts of huge tail & claw pieces. I want to eat one of these everyday for the rest of my life. Striped bass so on point too. Fresh AF! Oysters too 👌🏻
Very popular, thus crowded tiny seafood place. But it is so worth waiting for! Start with chowder and move on to octopus, before you get lost in the amazing oyster selection and enjoy the lobster roll
Great Connecticut style lobster roll (hot butter,no mayo) w/ large chunks of succulent lobster meat.Priced at $29,it's well worth the penny for the quality and portion.Clam chowder is Italian style.
Get here at least an hr before opening. The wait gets INSANE (like min 2 hr for 2 on the weekend). Oyster selection is to die for. Tons of Maine lobster on that hot roll. Service is delightful.
Excelente Lobster Roll ! Definately coming back to try the cold one( w mayo). Big selection of Oysters, Shrimps and Crabs from the Raw Bar. The Crab Claws were really good ! Excellent wines as well !
I loved that the lobster roll was slightly lime & black pepper flavored. The bun was too thick, wasn't toasted, but the lobster meat was so good that I could overlook the bun. The salad was also good
Great wine list and draft beers, and one of the rare places to get a warm buttered lobster roll in Boston. And of course, the oyster choices are fantastic. Just be prepared for a very long wait!
A tiny spot with long lines. If you snag a seat, start with some oysters (shucked in full view at the front of the restaurant) before moving onto clam chowder and an inimitable lobster roll.
This tiny oysterbar in Boston’s North End draws crazy lines for its hot, buttered rolls served on brioche buns. You may need to start off with a fork before you can bite into these giant creations. Read more
Arrive really early to get your name on the list! We got there at 6 and didn't get called for our reservation until 9... Worth the wait, tho - delicious seafood nomnom
Definitely worth the wait! The only place with HOT lobster rolls, which are WAY better than regular cold lobster rolls.. If you Love lobster then you MUST try one of these! Expensive but worth it!
Best hot buttered lobster roll. Ipswich fried clams are also ace. Expect an hour wait if you don't get there before 11:20am. They take your phone number and call you so grab a drink around the corner.
Got here @10:30am. Went for coffee @George Howell’s, back in 15 min & already had 7 people? Whoa! Had clam chowder, Island Creek & Kumamoto oysters, Spanish octopus & LobsterSpaghettini. So delish👍
Everything is delicious, especially the Johnnycake. Also finish the meal with the light HamachiCeviche. Perfect place for a date. Make sure to show up at least 2 hours early to get on the wait list.
Best seafood in the US. Go on a weekday around 3-4PM to get seated without waiting. Get the scallops, the buttermilk johnnycake, and, of course, the lobster roll (I like it cold with mayo). Amazing.
One of the better new england chowders (without bacon) that I've had. Lobster roll is good, but not the best in Boston and not worth an hour or more wait.
Best lobster roll I’ve had! Their Johnny cakes w/ smoked bluefish and caviar was savory, sweet & fishy. Oysters were yummy and high quality. Tip: put your name down and then go walk around the area.
It's hard to get a seat at this amazing restaurant. Go 30min before closing and grab a seat at the bar...indulge in all the awesomeness!! Lobster Rolls!
Chioppino was to die for - got it w lobster added. Service at the bar was top notch. Get your name in at the door before 7 or you won't be eating there that night and you will miss the best in town!
Oysters are very fresh, must order! Clam chowder made to order but not the traditional thick broth, I prefer legal seafoodclam chowder better. Lobster roll is very chunky, lots of lobster.
Sparklingly fresh oysters, lobster rolls served hot with butter or cold with mayo, and a variety of raw fish dishes and daily specials are served in a tiny space with tin ceilings and a marblebar. Read more
The hype is justified. If you can go for weekday lunch you can avoid a super painful wait. Lobster roll, Wellfleet oysters, and Neptunes on Piggyback are all excellent.
The real New England lobster roll is served cold. If you like warm lobster with butter - get a lobster and enjoy it with butter (with your hands, bib and all)
Not even a contest. Best lobster roll on planet earth. Come here to enjoy the cozy atmosphere, fresh and diverse oyster selection, but of course the LOBSTER ROLL! Butter style is my preference.
Delicious but just don't think worth the wait in a city with so much seafood. Saying that Johnnycakes w Caviar are ridiculous as is the clam chowder. Lobster roll is obviously good.
Even though the menu is extensive, be sure to check out their daily special menu. Seafood surprises like lobster tacos and shrimp and grits appear weekly. Reservations highly recommended.

Check in before 7 p.m. at the latest and get on the list. While it can take an hour or more to get a table, they'll call you when your table is ready so you can explore North End while you wait.
Esquire: ...got the 1st seat at bar, and ordered oceanic delights: raw oysters, dayboat scallops, a lobster roll. All spot-on. Then the johnnycake arrived &everything else became a blur.
The North End is generally known for Italian, which makes it all the more impressive that a seafood restaurant has made its name as one of the neighborhood's best places to eat. [Eater 38 Member]
You can enjoy a various selection of fresh oysters. Spanish octopus was also excellent. But there’s always a line and be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes.
Hands down the best lobster roll I've ever had. I made an hour detour on my back to NJ to stop here for a lobster roll. Well worth it. A little pricy but worth every penny.
I can't tell you its worth the wait - its the Balthazar of Boston - but the oysters are amazing, the hot mussels a must and the staff have it down to an art. Put your name down, take a walk & enjoy
Monk fish was the surprise winner along with the PEI mussels. Oysters, little necks and cherry stones were perfect to start. Warm lobster salad was just ok. Scallops were fantastic.
Ok! Best lobster roll! This place is very small. Avg wait according to waitress is between 1-3 hrs on non holiday weekends. Get there early to put your name down. They will call when table is ready.
100% recommend if you're flexible and willing to wait. lobster rolls and great wine selection. Get there at 4:30 to put your name in and walk around Boston till they call you!
Put name on list for 2 at 4:45 on a Friday. Practically no line, 58 min wait. Sea urchin is special. Oysters diverse. Squid Ink Risotto too rich to share. I can say I went.
