Van Gogh had an interesting life story -- decided to become a painter at 27, dead by 37 -- and this museum does a wonderful job showing his life and art side by side.

The renovations are nice, although the non-museum guidebooks (which we relied on) make it difficult to go through easily. Go later in the evening to avoid the crowds, no advance tickets needed.

Check out friday's after 7 pm performance with live DJ, vidro performance and bar, while walking through the collection! Incredible!

Try to get your tickets in advance. Just showing up and buying tickets there will almost always be a delay.

Museum closes at 6pm. If you show up late in the day there are less people. Guy was a nutbag, but SO talented! #inspire #passion

Buy a 'museumjaarkaart' at another museum for 50 euro's and pass the queues. And besides you will have access to almost all Dutch musea for FREE!

On the third floor, tucked away in a corner, is the book shop. Up the back is a table where you can sit down and read Vincent's prolific set of letters.

The starry night painting is NOT here. It has been in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York since 1941. You can buy Van Gogh's jelly ears at the gift shop.

Revealing Van Gogh's mesmerizing color detailing!! Ticket line is fine: easy and quick. However wardrobe is a nightmare!! Please invest in a locker system!!

Just get the audio guide and take your time. No crowds whwn we were there but told it gets busy. Managed to dispell some misconceptions as well.

Besides top 🎨 - free WiFi. On Sunday can park for free - there are 4-5 spots just along the street and no paystation..

The temporary exhibition "when I give I give myself" makes it even more interesting. Take the audio guide and expect to wander around for at least 2-3 hours.

1. Line to get your ticket, EVEN IF YOU GOT THEM IN ADVANCE!!!! 2. Small line to enter the building. 3. Long line to drop off your backpack. 4. Same line to pick up your backpack. Needs efficiency.
