The Penn Center recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., drafted his "I Have a Dream" speech at Gantt Cottage on the Penn Center campus.
The Beaufort Arsenal contains many relics of nature, war and early industry from the Beaufort, SC area. Serving as an arsenal through various wars, it was built in 1798 of tabby and brick.
The Beaufort National Cemetery has interments from every major American conflict, including the Spanish-American War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War.
