Did you know? When it opened in 1889, the zoo's collection of abandoned circus animals featured a jaguar, a hyena, a bear, a raccoon, an elk, a gazelle, a Mexican hog, lionesses, pumas, camels &snakes Read more

I highly recommend the elephants, bush dogs, gorillas, and of course, the pandas. If you ever think you may want to have children - come here for a birth control realization.

Entire zoo is wheelchair and stroller accessible. That being said, whichever way you choose to make your loop, your first half will be uphill, and some parts are steep.

Great for outdoor adventures, bar-b-ques, and close to the heart of the city. $40/person/day or $100/family/year. You tell me what's the better deal. Second season as a member holder and loving it.

I visited here on July. Although the close time is 5:30 pm, but they begin to let animals into houses at 4:30 pm, you won't see a lot after that.

Days with light rain are the BEST. We don our rain boots and go looking for the biggest puddles. The animals are more active and it feels like a private viewing with no one else around.

There’s no where to park right now. The big parking lot is closed. Streets are all filled as well. We had to park about a mile in a half away if not farther.

Get to the zoo early for the best FREE parking. If you can't park in the lots, try street parking a few blocks east or west of the zoo.

If you want to buy panda gifts, do so at the gift shop right by the panda exhibit as the main gift shop at the entrance is strangely devoid of all very many panda items.

WEATHER ADVICE! If it is to cold or to hot certain animals won't be out or in view. If it is below 48 degrees or feels below that chances r alot of animals won't be out. Think before you go!

Often-overlooked animals: the giant tortoises near the exit; the hornbills, who often flaunt food in their beaks at passersby (usually dead mice); the Koopaesque snapping turtle in the reptile house.
