Dennis is the co-founder and executive chairman of Foursquare, overseeing the strategic vision and product roadmap that have grown the Foursquare community to more than 50 million people around the world. Dennis has been a pioneer in imagining ways to help people discover the world around them using data and social encouragement. He previously founded Dodgeball, one of the first mobile social services, which was acquired by Google in 2005.
He holds degrees from New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program and the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. He is also a winner of the "Fast Money" bonus round on the TV game show Family Feud, and the Founder and Chairman of Kingston Stockade FC, a semi-professional soccer team in the Hudson Valley.
As CEO of Foursquare, David Shim is responsible for driving the company mission and vision as the world's most trusted and independent location technology platform.
David joined Foursquare in June 2019 as president of the company. Prior to joining Foursquare, David was the Founder and CEO of Placed, the leader in ad to in-store attribution. Founded in 2011, Placed worked with 430+ partners enabling over 500 advertisers to measure media's impact on store visits. Placed was acquired by Snapchat in 2017 and Foursquare in 2019.
David has also held leadership roles across product and operations at Farecast (acquired by Microsoft), WebTrends, Quantcast, and Snapchat.
Gil joined Foursquare as Co-Executive Chairman following the company's merger with Factual. As Founder and CEO, Gil drove Factual to fulfill its mission of making high-quality data accessible, and it became a leader in location-based marketing. At Foursquare, he brings his lifelong passion for data, and is thrilled to work with a talented exec team developing the independent location technology company that will power the next wave of digital innovation.
Prior to founding Factual, Gil co-founded Applied Semantics which pioneered the use of natural language technologies and invented contextual advertising through the development and launch of AdSense. In 2003, Google acquired Applied Semantics and Gil stayed on through 2007 as the Director of Engineering for the Santa Monica office.
Gil serves as a Director for the X Prize Foundation, Founder and Chairman of the Common Crawl Foundation, and a partner at TenOneTen Ventures. Gil earned his bachelor's degree from Caltech with a double major in Engineering and Applied Science, and Economics. He lives in Los Angeles with his family and loves all things basketball, but especially playing with his children.
