    【中央区民史跡】渡しの起りは、徳川家康が摂津国佃村から漁民を呼び寄せ、干潟を埋め立てさせ佃島と命名し住まわせた時から始まります。石標はここ佃と対岸の湊にあり、東京市が渡船場の諸施設の完成と手漕ぎを廃止して曳舟渡船を開始した昭和２年に建てたものです。昭和３９年８月佃大橋完成により、三百余年の渡船の歴史を閉じています。
