"禁門の変が起こるまでは禁門と言って開かずの門でしたが、禁門の変で御所が炎に包まれた時に開いた。焼かれて開いたので後に蛤御門と呼ばれ、禁門の変も蛤御門の変と呼ばれるようになった。"
