    (文京区HPより抜粋→)明治17年（1884）、東京大学の坪井正五郎、白井光太郎と有坂鉊蔵の3人は、 根津の谷に面した貝塚から赤焼きのつぼを発見した。 これが後に縄文式土器と異なるものと認められ、発見地の地名を取り「弥生式土器」と名付けられた。 しかし、「弥生式土器」の発見地は、都市化が進むなかではっきりしなくなり、推定地として3か所が指摘されていた…(←だから、ゆかりの地なんて表現なんだね)
