"1998年からの発掘調査で青龍白虎朱雀玄武の四神図と天文図の壁画が発見された。破損し剥落寸前の状態であったため、2003年に保護施設が建設された。現在、キトラ古墳の壁画は、壁面から剥がされ、修理中。"
