源三位頼政（げんざんみよりまさ・1104-80）は治承4年（1180）、以仁王（もちひとおう）とともに平家打倒の兵を挙げた。5月26日、平家軍に宇治川で敗れた頼政は平等院に籠り、扇の芝で自刃した。享年77。辞世「埋もれ木の花咲くこともなかりしに 身のなる果てぞ哀れなりける」Upvote1Downvote
