    伊勢宗瑞の城として有名な、愛鷹山南麓に築かれた平山城。元は浮島ヶ原の沼地に突き出た三の丸周辺だけだったが、後に防御性を高めるため北側に城域を広げたらしい。本丸部分を囲む巨大な土塁は積んだのではなく台地を削り出したものか。関ヶ原後は当地に興国寺藩が立藩するも、藩主・天野康景が出奔して廃藩となり廃城。巨大な空堀も見所で、見学後は土塁に戻らずとも空堀最西端からそのまま城外に出られる。
