法隆寺 五重塔

Nice from a distance but noone ever mentions the ugly chicken wire covering the treasures inside. Surely there must be a way of better displaying the carvings while protecting them at the same time

Oldest wooden building in the world. Pretty indescribable feelings when facing it. It has to be experienced.

【国宝】登録名称は「法隆寺五重塔」…塔はストゥーパともいわれ釈尊の遺骨を奉安するためのものであり、仏教寺院において最も重要な建物とされる。高さは基壇上より約31.5mで、わが国最古の五重塔として知られています。 この最下層の内陣には奈良時代のはじめに造られた塑像群があり、東面は維摩居士と文殊菩薩の問答、北面は釈尊の入滅（涅槃）、西面は釈尊遺骨（舎利）の分割、南面は弥勒菩薩の説法が表現されています
