The market operated from 1873 until 2007. At the start of the 20th century the market was recognized as the unofficial "town center" of Capitol Hill. Badly damaged by fire in 2007, it reopened in 2009
The market itself is open every day, but weekends bring an additional influx of vendors ranging from local farmers to antique furniture.
