You can't go wrong with any of the East Side King locations...definitely Austin's food truck all-stars. The Chicken Karaage knocks it out of the park.
You're on the East Side, you need a slice...what do you do? Head to Red House, who runs a close second to Home Slice in the 'Best Slice in Town' derby.
Everything is excellent, but if you're down with spicy, you have to try the Danger Dog.
The hype is absolutely for real: this is the best BBQ in the U.S. You can't go wrong regardless of what you choose, but the brisket is the MVP of the lineup. But get here early, they will sell out.
Another of the great places opened during the Great Restaurant Rush of '08-10 in Austin. Only complaint is that it's a very intimate setting, so you better get a reservation or be prepared to wait.
Word to the wise: ask for the Mad Cow (beef fajitas, black beans, grilled corn) and Missionary-style Pork (slow-roasted pork w/ guacamole) from the top-secret #sacred menu and thank me later.
