A personal selection of my absolute favourite places in Bristol (and Bath), comprised mainly of venues offering a great selection of craft beer, speciality coffee, exceptional food, and atmosphere.
Elliot Jay Stocks: Huge beer selection with *lots* of turnover, very knowledgable staff, and comfy sofas. The best pub in Bristol by quite some way, located on beautiful King Street, with an equally beautiful interior.
Elliot Jay Stocks: Small, but perfectly formed. Super-smart staff, fantastic coffee (including beans to take away), and a lovely little space in which to sit. Good for working, too.
Elliot Jay Stocks: Atmospheric underground venue in former wine vaults. Beer selection is potentially vast, but stock disappears quickly, so order with ‘Plan B’ drinks in mind. Staff not always that knowledgable.
Elliot Jay Stocks: Owned by Bristol Beer Factory, but home to big variety of guest beers, this little gem is hidden away, but worth the visit. Home-made runny scotch eggs, friendly staff, and of course great beer.

Elliot Jay Stocks: Unbelievably good, unusual, home-made cocktails (there’s a reason they’ve won awards), exceptional food, and all in a very rustic, down-to-earth potting shed inside a kitchen garden. Superb.
Elliot Jay Stocks: Things change a lot round here in this little plot at the back of Temple Meads, but there’s usually something interesting going on and it’s a great spot for larger groups, especially in the sun.
