Become a true Iowa State student - not only by Campaniling - but by checking out these campus traditions.
1. Campanile
ISU SALC: Campaniling: A student officially becomes an Iowa Stater when he or she is kissed under the campanile at the stroke of midnight.
2. Jack Trice Stadium
ISU SALC: Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted: "Struck by a Cyclone."
3. James H. Hilton Coliseum
4. Lake LaVerne
ISU SALC: If you walk around the Lake LaVerne, the home of Lancelot and Elaine, three times with your beloved you are destined to be together.
5. ISU Alumni Center
ISU SALC: In 1954 Cy became the official mascot of Iowa State. Get your picture taken with the only Cy statue on campus at the Alumni Center!
6. Iowa State Memorial Union
ISU SALC: For more than 70 years students have avoided stepping on the Zodiac at the North doors to the MU for fear of failing their next exam.
7. Central Campus
ISU SALC: Homecoming, VEISHEA, and other campus events are held here each year. Food, fun, and more!
