If you are lucky enough to be in ATL in Nov/Dec--check out the Atlanta Ballet's performance of the Nutcracker, at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. It's a classic, but with all new choreography.

A bowling spot with just enough irony to make it retro-fun, and plenty of treats...wings, parmesan sticks, burgers, beers galore, etc. It looks how bowling used to look. Great for rainy/v.hot day.
Gorgeous building near Emory; their special exhibits and Imax theater are always good. Uncanny ability to curate in a way kids love. Solid permanent collection. Ideal for families with kids 3-9 yrs.
You can get in many debates about best BBQ in ATL...(Fox Bros also A+), but nobody will dispute Fat Matt's quality. Ribs and chicken combo ++ many sides = great indulgence.
A buckhead classic; it's unassuming in a strip mall but cozy inside; very popular with families. The pappardelle with ragu and spag. with clams are 2 favorites. Delicious bread and house salad.

One of the best quick trips from ATL. Stay @ Doubletree or HGI on Chestnut St. See Aquarium, Bluff View Arts Dist. Try a brewery; dinner @ classic Southern Tupelo Honey or upscale Italian Alleia.
Great for a hot day! Fun splash zone (kids bring suits) and things to play on, under...slides, gnomes, forts--epic spot for tag, hide n seek all in tranquil garden. My kids still love @ ages 11&14.
Check out any of the locations. A fresh local classic and a healthy treat they will not know is healthy. Location on the Beltline East Side Trail makes a great pause point for a treat.
It's a small chain--great atmosphere and you order as you go, so there is always enough to eat. A little more upscale than Taqueria del Sol but both great.
Always busy, very casual and clean place for delicious tacos. The chef's become a local celebrity purely because he's talented. The Memphis and the Brisket burritos are my favorite.
This is a family owned and operated place with excellent produce and outstanding customer service at MUCH lower price than the supermarket. Grab breakfast or a sandwich here vs. the drive thru.
Visit in fall with family. Corn maze rocks. Do not miss the pig race! lots of pumpkins/etc. to choose from and pick your own flowers.
