@melpay visited Japan in October 2011. Found some great spots, both popular and off the beaten track.
Look for the black tarp down a pokey alleyway. It opens at 12pm, a bone out the front and the long line of locals will signal that it's open. Salty, delicious and authentic ramen. Read more.
It's fun for tourists because Kill Bill was filmed here - but the food is also fantastic. Really fun vibe.
