Tupac played Travis Younger here in the play A Raisin in the Sun. He was a member of Harlem's 127th Street Repertory Ensemble which he joined aged 12.
Tupac attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he studied acting, poetry, jazz, and ballet. He was considered to be the best rapper and his beatbox, won most of the rap competitions.
In '88, Shakur attended Tamalpais High School. In June '89 his poetry teacher organized a concert leading him to be signed by Atron Gregory setting him up as a roadie & dancer 4 Digital Underground.
Interscope were the distributor for Death Row Records - the label Tupac was signed to and owned by Suge Knight. In '92 Dan Quayle demanded Interscope withdraw Tupac's 2Pacalypse Now.
November 30 1994, Tupac was shot 5 times & robbed in the lobby of Quad Recording Studios in Manhattan by two armed men in army fatigues. He would later accuse Sean Combs, Andre Harrell & Biggie Smalls
Tupac was treated at Bellevue Hospital after the '94 shooting (5 bullet wounds; 2 in the head, 2 in the groin and 1 through the arm and thigh). He checked out, against orders, 3hrs after surgery.
The scene of a fight between Tupac (others) and Orland Anderson on September 7th 1996. Later that night Tupac was shot.
Used to be the Maxim Hotel outside of which Tupac was shot on the corner of Koval Lane on September 7th 1996 - following the Tyson fight at the MGM.
From here you can see a triangular sign that used to belong to Club 662, owned by Suge Knight and frequented by Tupac. He was on his way here when he was shot.
On September 13, 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur died here from respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, after having been in critical condition for six days.
The Notorious B.I.G. was shot in a drive-by here (at the red light at Wilshire & Fairfax) after leaving the '97 Soul Train Music Awards.It was believed to be in revenge for the shooting of Tupac.
Founded in 1997 by Afeni Shakur (Tupac's mother) it provides training and support for students who aspire to enhance their creative talents.
