Great area near the center, 2 trum stops from Dam Square. Lots of bars, cafes and coffee shops around and in Sunday there's a modern artmarket. Pricy but worth visiting.
Nice place, surrounded by restaurants. You should try restaurant Szmulewicz, just off the Rembrandtplein at de Bakkersstraat. Before or after dinner, watch a movie at Tuschinski, a beautiful theater.
Lively square outside the tourist hubs. Don't recommend a hotel on the Square... Too noisy, but shopping, supermarket, restaurants, Starbucks all around the square make it a good starting point.
Plenty of cafes/restaurants around the area. Spacious Starbucks in the area is opened very early for the much needed caffeine fix when nothing else is available.
