If the tickets for Alcatraz are sold out you may be able to buy a combo tour for Alcatraz and Angle island. If you do, you can take the ferry from Alcatraz back to pier 33 and skip Angle island.

You have to take a ferry or have your own boat to get to the island. Reserve camping here: http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/angel-island-sp/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=CA&parkId=120003

This place is gorgeous for the day with oysters by the pier or a bike ride around the island. Hike up to the peak to watch the sunset and you get a 360 view of the entire bay. Amazing!

Amazing scenery and views of the bay. Rent a bike or take a tour. The Segway tour is so much fun and is only $60. The cheapest Segway tour I have ever encountered.

Bring layers because it gets hot and cold very quickly between the sun and shade. Only the 4:30pm ferry goes back to the Ferry Bldg. All others only go to Pier 41.
