Always worth a quick hike for some misty views. Beware, lots of people and you’ll likely get wet standing near the base of the falls. But great photos and spending time outdoors makes it worthwhile!
Avoid the crazy traffic on east 30 by parking at the lower lot at Wahkeena Falls. Hike the ,2 miles to see Wahkeena and then enjoy the easy .5 mile hike to Multnomah
Multnomah Falls is The falls drops in two major steps between the two so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 189 m Multnomah is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon
Breathtaking!!! This view is right behind the visitors center and the walk to the bridge is very short. Go inside the visitors center and read about the history!
Such a great view from the bridge, just a shorthike from the bottom viewing area, but many other trails to take up to the top of you are feeling adventurous. Dog-friendly! But gets crowded!
The hype is real. This is only a 30-40min drive from Portland and so worth it. Go on the early side if you want to beat the crowds and don't forget to hike the trails behind the falls themselves.
Totally worth the trip - the hike to the top of the falls is steep and lots of switchbacks. Harder than I thought it would be, but it's free (unless you get trapped buying something in the gift shop)
Breathtaking. Photos just don't do it justice. Be prepared to battle the crowds though. If the lot right off I-84 is full, drive to next exit and take the scenic route back for additional parking.
Be Sure to visit during the week, very crowded on the weekend. There is a snack shop around the backside of the other snack vendors that serves great hot dogs, hard-to-find but is there.
Very sad moment realizing we couldn’t do the hike up to the top because a high schooler started a wildfire in September of 2017 with fireworks that wiped out 50,000+ acres.😡😥

Wear comfort clothes, hiking shoes, and of course bottle water. It takes 1 and 3/4 miles to reach the top of the falls. It is worth to see stunning view.
Really incredibly beautiful falls! The hike to the top is steep and a bit challenging but worth the view. Make sure to wear good shoes, very slippery in spots.
This waterfall is stunning! Another great spot to hike or jog (1 mile up the mountain to the top of the waterfall) in lieu of a gym workout. The sweat and the view is worth it...
Finding a parking space is tough, but being patient is worth it! Beautiful and state rangers are terrific here; they’ll give you information for all the falls.
Beautiful waterfalls. Super touristy. If you're headed further out into the gorge anyways, it's right off the freeway and worth parking and checking out.
Hike was worth it but thats just because the hike itself is pretty interesting. The view at the top is pretty crappy actually. Unfortunately you cannot see most of the falls from the top.
Go park at the rest area off of I-84 and take the pedestrian underpass to get to the waterfall. An easier way to get back on the highway once you're done.
This kind of beauty is rarely so accessible, so expect crowds until you get well away from the base. The whole area is gorgeous though and basically Rivendell.
If you happen to be there in the early afternoon, be sure and hit up the Brunch buffet at the Lodge. Awesome selection of breakfast/lunch/seafood, etc.!
I mean, it was pretty I guess? Makes a good instagram photo HA. But was expecting more. Go to Iceland for some truly amazing waterfalls. Nice for a quick hike up.
One of Oregon's most famous waterfalls, I suggest combining this with a drive up the Old Cascade Hwy and a visit to the picturesque town of Hood River.
