David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Pirkstein’. Lower castle in Rattay founded in the 14th century. It burned down in 1447 and was rebuild into a presbytery in the 18th century. You can still see the main tower today.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Upper Castle’. Hanuš of Leipa ruled there. It was built in the mid-14th century and burned down in the same year as Pirkstein. It was rebuild into a chateau in the 16th century.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘St. Matthew’s Church’. It was built in 1360 and rebuild in 1691. Remnants of the original church are: tombstone mounted into the cemetery wall and base of the baptismal font.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Neuhof’. It was a noble’s court in the 15th century, later destroyed by extensive floods. It was later replaced by a village ‘Nový dvůr’.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Ledetchko’. It was a small village with a mill, belonging to Arnošt of Talmerg in the 15th century. Today you can still recognize the landscape near the river.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Vranik’. An early medieval hillfort from the 9th century. Today you can see the hill surrounded by a highly eroded rampart.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Samopesh’. A village which belonged to Sasau Monastery until 1412. The name is derived from species of wheat called “Samopše–špalta”. Today you can recognize the creek and the road.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Merhojed’. It was a small village belonging to Sasau Monastery in the 15th century. Only the ‘Stone Man’ still stands today. Its origin is unknown, probably shows a Slavic warrior.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Talmberg’. The castle came into possession of Diviš of Talmberg in 1390, but it was seized by Havel Medek of Valdek. Today, the ruins of the castle are part of residential area.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Uzhitz’. The village dates back to 1284. The ownership was split between lords or Talmberg and Rattay. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary still stands today.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Sasau Monastery’. The monastery was founded in the 11th century by St. Procopius. Monks from Břevnov took over and rebuilt it. Main church was never finished due to Hussite wars.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Church of the Holy Cross’. It was a first church of the monastery, consecrated in 1070. Today you can see the remnants of the foundations.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘St. Martin’s Church’. The church was founded in the 14th century.. It was enclosed by a high graveyard wall that has survived until today together with windows in the steeple.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Rovna’. A small village older than Skalitz, now part of it. Monks from Sasau Monastery built church of St. James with frescoes in 1150. The church is well preserved today.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Skalitz’. The town was founded in the 14th century. Sigismund torched the castle and it was never rebuilt. Today only remnants of gatehouse wall, zwinger and perimeter walls remain.
David Vávra: A place from KCD: ‘Pribyslavitz’. The village was declining slowly and was abandoned in 1945, much later than in the game. Today you can see the ruins of several buildings.
