Beautiful spot in Washington, great view of DC, very well kept, Illumination during the night is amazing!! You need a ticket to enter into the monument.
One of the newer memorials, but a definite "must-see". Located directly between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Very scenic!
Absolutely gorgeous and gaudy architecture- great for a cold day in DC, when you just want to wander around indoors.
Another fabulous spot I've shot many weddings. Sunset/dusk the light is perfect for shooting from the steps out to the Monument with the Tidal Basin as backdrop. Be mindful of the rangers ;-)

Less crowded of Smithsonians, but loaded with great American artists and sculptors. From 1600s to present day. Includes modern works of pop culture art that are eclectic. Great museum!
grab fish tacos at baja fresh and them while people watching on the circle. Can also feed your rice to the birds - they'll put on quite a show for you.
Great museum, very educational. You should get a bit early to get tickets to other exhibits. Also we really liked that they had a memorial wall about other nations who had genocide
Be sure to check out the gift shop in the basement! Also the food here is pretty good so if your looking for somewhere to eat on the mall look no further!
This wonderful garden is often overshadowed by the surrounding sites. Nevertheless, it contains a beautiful collection of plants and flowers. Definitely stop by, and bring a book to read on a bench!
Staff are very helpful and courteous. The guided tours are well done and well organized. They provide headphones so you can hear the guide speak.
The best memorial in DC, different quotes and sculptures are all around. Even on the steps! You could spend hours looking around this one monument.
