Are you a possible music major and don't know what to expect? Here is a short run through of the buildings on campus most associated with the Music Department.
Andrew Weinstein: This building is the First Half of the Music Department. We share it with the Physician's Assistant program. We have a theater, 5 music classrooms, practice rooms, tech lab, music library, and offices
Andrew Weinstein: Music majors are certainly going to find the 6th the most helpful since there are music books on this floor. Full scores, biographies, and much more on this floor. There are others @ Monroe's library.
Andrew Weinstein: Most music majors eat here since it's close to the New Academic Building. Burgers, Salads, Italian, & Red Mango. Tables and Booths. Plus, a couch in the back room. Surrounded by classic posters&photos
Andrew Weinstein: First Floor and Lower Level belong to the music department. All the major offices are here. Bottom floor has 2 practice spaces for larger ensembles like orchestra, chorus, and jazz groups.
Andrew Weinstein: This is the main performance venue for large ensembles on campus. There are performances by orchestra and band every semester, plus the school opera and musical.
Andrew Weinstein: Most important is to not only enjoy playing music, but to enjoy the whole college experience. So try to make friends in and out of the department, join a club. This is the one place you go to find it.

Andrew Weinstein: As a music major, you should be exposed to professional musicians at work. Check out the NY Philharmonic, Met Opera, or whatever floats your boat in NYC. Just take train from Mineola.
