I started coming to Ben when I lived in the neighborhood. Years later, I still come down here (well out of my way) to get a haircut. Ben's a master and I won't go anywhere else.
You may know Ben from his former gig at Neighborhood Barbers, where his chair was always full. Nothing's changed in his new spot - you might wait a few min, but it's the best basic cut in town.

That chirping you hear isn't your imagination. There are parakeets in the back--Ask Ben or Manny to take them out and play with them.

Jamie ClawsonApril 19, 2013I tried this place once because I heard it was good. I didn't know who Ben was and had some kid butcher my scalp, hands down worst haircut ever. I had better haircuts for less at Astor Place Hair.
Ben will give you a great cut for $14 + tip. Everyone else is hit or miss.
