Special fluids and solvents are used in a dry cleaning machine to remove soil and stains from fabric. It is called “dry cleaning” because the fluid contains little or no water and does not penetrate the fibers in the way water does. Advantages include the ability to dissolve greases and oils in a way that soap and water cannot. Natural fibers, such as wool, dry clean beautifully, but when washed in water, can shrink and distort. Silks are generally more color and finish stable when dry cleaned, although one must be very knowledgeable to properly spot clean these garments. Synthetic fibers such as polyester also respond well to dry cleaning, as oily spots will come out easily. Proper dry cleaning helps to return your garments to a 'like-new' condition. Professional dry cleaning involves many different operations, all performed by skilled people, and designed to give your garments a fresh, clean appearance. Our staff are highly trained in their area of expertise to properly identify, clean and/or finish all garments, and to exercise a number of special procedures when handling your items.

Wash and Dry
Also known as fluff and fold, it's laundry, like t-shirts, jeans, towels, sheets, etc. that's just washed, dried and folded. It's the laundry you can do at home, but if you're too busy or have better things to do with your time, we'll do it for you ! The whites and colors are separated before washing. We use special unscented soap, so if you have sensitive skin, it shouldn't bother you. We know how to wash and dry your laundry so whites and colors are just the way it should be... clean and fresh. Each item is then nicely folded and packaged in blue paper.
Alterations and Mending
We have a expert tailor on the premises Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm. He does alterations and mends just about anything, from hemming your pants or replacing a pocket, to lining your jacket.
Leather and Suede Cleaning
The cleaning and finishing itself is not done the same as fabric cleaning. Being animal skins, they react to cleaning methods differently and require different solvents and equipment in the cleaning process as well as special handling techniques in the finishing process.
Wet Cleaning
Sometimes, wet cleaning might be the best method for your garment, based on on the care instructions and our professional expertise. As with the dry cleaning process, wet cleaning starts with the pre-treatment of spots and stains using a variety of specialized cleaning agents. Wet cleaning is the professional process of removing soils from your garments and other textile items through the use of water and additives while using proper precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of color, and fabric distortion.
Finished Laundry
Items such as men's dress shirts, fine bed and table linen, etc. are pre-treated and washed with additives, soap and water before being pressed . These items are pressed wet with laundry pressing equipment using high pressure and high heat to produce the fine, crisp finish. The finished laundry garments are done with your choice of medium or heavy starch, or no starch at all. Shirts are usually hung on hangers or put in a box, whichever you prefer. Linens are professionally folded and wrapped, or can be hung, if you like.
Reweaving
This is also known as “French weaving” or “invisible weaving”. It can be done on most garments, and is most commonly done on wool and cashmere blends and knits, because of holes caused by insects. Holes can also be caused by cigarettes, getting snagged, or just accidentally ripping the garment. Reweaving is a delicate skill that involves knowledge of the different types of weave in a given fabric. There are different techniques used depending on the fabric and the size of the hole. Our weaver takes the same matching threads from the garment and weaves the thread back into the fabric using the exact same pattern so the hole is mended and the repaired area is “invisible".
Household Items
We clean and freshen up your household items, such as area rugs, couch covers, drapery, curtains and decorative pillows. Items such as blankets, comforters, bed pillows, and throw rugs are usually washed and dried, but may be dry cleaned, depending on the fabric, fiber content, spot, or other special considerations. Be assured that you'll be happy with the end results!
