Beer 2
Beer
Originally brewed in Munich, this classic dark lager has become quite popular throughout Germany. We use a large amount of Munich malts in this lager to provide a bread-like taste with a hint of caramel, which is common of this particular style of beer. We also use one of Germany's finest noble hops from the Hallertauer region to make this beer as authentic as possible. The rich and sweet aromas balanced with its deep brown color will be sure to give your senses an enjoyable overall impression.
Smoked Lager
An historic specialty of the city of Bamberg, this type of beer is based on an old German legend. An accidental fire in a small regional brewery exposed the stored malt to the smoke for several hours. Because the brewer did not have the money to afford a new batch of malt, he was forced to use the smoked malt in his beer production. To his surprise, the townspeople loved the newly created beer; which in return became a new beer style in Germany. During the production of our smoked lager, we use a beechwood-smoked malt from a famous German malt house. This dark brown lager gives off a smoky and meat-like aroma. The complementary flavor follows the aroma characteristics with a balancing blend of smoke and malt along with a slight bitterness.
Hefeweizen
This traditional German wheat beer is brewed after an old German law that requires at least 50% of the grains to be malted wheat. Our style of wheat beer is made with 55% wheat and a famous German yeast strain which produces a strong banana and subtle clove flavor. The high wheat content and yeast also contributes to the cloudy yet light gold appearance. This type of beer is favored during the summertime but is brewed year-round at Blue Stallion Brewing Co.
Wee Heavy
The Wee Heavy is also referred to as a Strong Scotch ale or 90 Shilling. This Scotch ale is the strongest out of all the Scottish beer styles and is the strongest ale we brew at Blue Stallion Brewing Co. This full-bodied beer provides a rich and malty taste along with a slight caramel flavor. Its complex aroma and deep copper color as well as its alcoholic warmth provide a smooth balance for the perfect malt-forward ale.
German Pilsner
This beer was first brewed in Bohemia, but was later adapted by many breweries in Germany. Today, the German Pilsner is the most popular style of beer in Germany because of its refreshing bitterness and easy drinkability. For our unique Pils, we used 2 specific kinds of German noble hops which gives this beer a crisp and bitter taste with a medium-dry finish which lingers into the aftertaste. The use of the typical German malt provides our Pils with a dense and rich head, which is common for this style of beer.
Maibock
This type of German beer was originally made as a transition between the heavy doppelbock that is enjoyed during the winter season and the lighter beer that is favored during the summertime. The Maibock is specifically associated with the springtime and the month of May, hense the name “Mai”bock. This dark gold beer gives off a strong malt aroma along with a lightly toasted scent. The German malts used in this beer dominate the flavor and we also use one of the finest German noble hops in order to give this beer an authentic and rich flavor.
Scottish 70 Schilling
This traditional Scottish ale gained its unique name during the 1800's when it was referred to the price of ale per barrel. The Scottish 70 is our lightest beer at Blue Stallion Brewing Co and would have cost 70 shillings back in the mid 19th century, hence the name “70 Shilling”. We only use a small amount of British hops in this beer, so it has a distinct malty sweetness as well as a slight caramel taste. This particular beer has a deep amber color and gives off a light and fruity aroma. This beer is fermented at slightly cooler temperatures to simulate the typical Scottish brewing techniques.
