Beer 2
Beer
The Tent Pole is a smooth operator. One of the first batches off our new equipment, we got excited to play around with Madagascar vanilla beans about 50 of them. Some in the boil, some in the fermenter, and some in secondary. Made with black patent and chocolate malt, it arrived at the tap at 6.1%ABV with a very subtle vanilla finish and an exceptionally silky mouth feel. ABV 6.1%
Awry Rye Pale Ale
Something familiar yet slightly different a rye pale ale. With about 15% of the grain bill comprised of rye malt, that “Did I just eat a Reuben?” style flavor comes through strongly. It’s hopped with Nugget and Glacier goodness for a traditional pale ale finish. ABV 6.1%
Dark Helmet Schwarzbier Lager
Our assistant brewmaster’s first truly solo voyage on the Second St. system, the Dark Helmet is a Schwarzbier a dark lager with spices. Brewed with roasted malts, black peppercorns, and coriander, the Helmet has a refreshing lager character while the spices make their presence known as the beer approaches cellar temperatures. Never doubt the power of the Schwarz! ABV 5.5%
Firebush Irish Red Ale
The long-awaited red/amber beer from our brewmaster’s brain, the Firebush was an instant hit. A simple, traditional Irish red a touch of roasted/toasty flavor, balanced with just enough hop character, make this a popular tap-room only choice. ABV 6.3%
Get Around Golden Ale
Moe’s Original BBQ needed a custom brewed beer to wash down sauce laden palettes the Get Around is the result. Clear golden, easy-drinking, and low ABV, the beer gets around well. ABV 4.6%
Gyptoberfest Marzen Lager
The “Gyptoberfest” was born to help the town of Gypsum commemorate the first down-valley celebration of sausage and schnitzel. With Augustiner yeast and Hallertau hops, it’s a very traditional Märzen beer that is deep amber in color with a robust toasty flavor. ABV 5.6%
Hop Eater India Pale Ale
We stumbled across a significant amount of Chinook hops in late summer of 2013, and this was the first beer to benefit. Over 100 IBUs and crashed a little earlier than most of our beers, this beer is malty, a little sweet, and a lot hoppy. ABV 6.6%
Pink I Raspberry IPA
Fruit-beer haters tried to talk us out of this one, but we wanted a big, accessible IPA to bring some of the lighter-fare fans along to the joys of hoppiness. We start with a traditional IPA recipe using the Falconer’s Flight. Just as fermentation is wrapping up, we add 2 1/2 lbs of raspberry puree per gallon. The aroma is all raspberry, and so is the initial hit on your palette. The finish of the beer, and the ABV, however, is all IPA. ABV 6.8%
Second Street Stout
A traditional “dry” stout smooth, creamy, and nitrogen pushed, so that as many of your taste buds can engage as possible. Roasted barley imparts some additional flavor, and the ABV comes in at 4.8%. You can safely imbibe a few without worrying about forgetting where you are. ABV 4.8%
Farmer Wirtz IPA
At our Second Street tap room, hops have been climbing to the rooftop since 2011. Now with fresh, Colorado grown Chinook and Nugget hops, the “Farmer” comes to you loaded up with IBUs, thanks again to the man whose likeness graces the can. ABV 7.0%
Karate Hop Hoppy Brown Ale
The Karate Hop begins with a traditional brown recipe, and triples the hops. Not quite an “India” brown, this beer ended up with a great balance between traditional brown roastiness and a nice kick from the extra IBUs. Willamette hops impart the extra hop character. ABV 6.2%
Brush Creek Blonde Ale
100% of the water in all Bonfire beer comes from Eagle’s Brush Creek, fed by springs and snow-melt high in the Sawatch Mountains. With nugget hops, along with munich and white wheat malts, the Brush Creek is our lightest, smoothest offering. ABV 4.8%
Demshitz Brown Ale
Bonfire Brewing has teamed up with the rowdy folks of Demshitz to spread the beer gospel. Mostly because of all the goodness that they represent, but also because we really like words that end with the letter “z.” in honor of this match made in heaven, our first brown ale has been dubbed “Demshitz Brown.” In the immortal words of Demshitz, “Demshitz can do anything.” It’s a smooth, drinkable brown that comes in at around 5.5% ABV. Brown ale enthusiasts will especially appreciate the slight hint of smokiness in this one the result of roasted malts in the mash tun. ABV 5.8%
Firestarter IPA
Our flagship IPA, The Firestarter is a traditional India Pale Ale recipe, bitterness-enhanced with Falconer’s flight hops and aroma-strengthened with an extra dose of Cascade hops. At 6.6% ABV, this one gets the fire going quickly. ABV 6.6%
Black and Blue Black Currant Pale Ale
ABV 5.6%
Hand-Crafted Root Beer
After years of requests, we finally made our own root beer in the summer of 2013. Sparing no expense, it has an amalgamation of juniper berries, sarsaparilla root, wintergreen leaves, white birch root, vanilla beans, anise stars, cinnamon, and of course, sugar. Lighter in color than your traditional root beer, and uniquely delicious. ABV 0%
Kindler Pale Ale
The Kindler is brewed in the spring to coincide with the valley-wide re-kindling of a desire to get back out on the trails and into the water. A traditional American Pale, it is deliberately designed to impart a more refreshing than bitter hop character, undergoing eight hop additions to bring it right to the top of the pale ale scale at 48 IBUs, while maintaining a distinctly citrus hop finish. ABV 5.5%
Screaming Eagle Extra Special Bitter
This Extra Special Ale is the result of a collaboration with the Eagle Chamber of Commerce. The result is a deep amber beer that’s not too bitter and not too sweet, with a nice balance of 38 IBUs worth of hop-tastiness. As an additional bonus, $1 of every Screaming Eagle 6-pack sold, and 10% of every keg sold, benefits our Chamber’s scholarship fund, meaning your consumption of this fine brew is helping a deserving Eagle County student ascend the ranks of higher education! ABV 4.8%
Tent Pole Barrel-aged Whiskey Porter
Breckenridge Distillery Barrel Aged Beers: We’ve experimented with a variety of our beers in oak barrels from Breckenridge Distillery, including a Whiskey Coffee Chocolate Stout, a Rum India Black Ale, a Whiskey Porter, and a Whiskey Brown. These come about in 45 gallon doses and don’t tend to last long so make sure you try one if you see it on the menu! ABV 6.5+%
Yellow Chair Peach Ale
The “Yellow Chair” is a hallowed piece of furniture at the peak of one of the most challenging mountain bike climbs in Eagle it represents a sigh of relief, and this beer was designed to reward the receiver similarly. The recipe is based on a blonde ale, with peach puree added at the tail end of fermentation. The resulting beer has a subtle peachy flavor and aroma. ABV 4.0%
