Bowers Harbor Vineyards

Brut Champagne-Style,‏ aged 62 months. We have disgorged & bottled only 6 of 80 cases of our Cuvee Evan. The rest is still aging. It is 50% Chardonnay, & 50% Pinot Noir, estate grown, the same blend & aging process as Dom Perignon, creamy, toasted almond, hints of yeast on the nose, buttery, dry. Our Blanc de Noir is estate grown & hand selected especially w/ the intended "Evan cuvée" in mind. One ton of Chardonnay & Pinot Noir were pressed & fermented together, resulting in a cuvée composed of small bubbles & a brilliant sparkle w/ nice yeast aromas. Enjoy chilled. 0% RS

2009 proved to be a perfect year to make a Traditional Methode Champenoise. We were unable to harvest Pinot Noir grapes ripe enough to make a barrel aged Pinot Noir. Rather than letting all the fruit go to waste, Spencer used his creativity to be the first in Michigan to make a vintage Brut Rosé. We lovingly gave it our address name, 2896, since it is 100% Pinot Noir from our Langley Vineyard. This wine is sure to impress Sparkling wine lovers from around the globe.

Our Blanc de Noir is made w/ the traditional & respected Methode Champenoise. This Brut style wine bubbles w/ flavors from the hand picked & carefully whole-cluster pressed 100% Pinot Noir grapes. Enjoy the quality, character & elegance that dances across your palette!

Wine of the Month! 2 bottles for ONLY $30! Planted in 1991, our Block II Vineyard is our oldest & most recognized Riesling Block. In this special part of our property, we planted some of the highest quality Riesling clones from Germany. Year after year, the Riesling grapes from Block II continue to exceed our expectations by producing globally recognized, award-winning wine. This dry wine emanates lychee & anise aromas, followed by bright apple flavors w/ a thread of floral spice, & finishes clean.

Gold Medal, Long Beach Grand Cru! The morning mists in the Smokey Hollow Vineyard roll back as early morning sunshine warms the vines & ripens our Riesling grapes. Formerly home to dark, sweet cherry trees, this clay & gravel soil now succors heavy clusters of this classic, cool-climate grape. Exceptional growing conditions yield fruit w/ notes of crisp citrus & hints of pure minerals. 0.25 Residual Sugar

The grapes for this RLS Reserve wine have been hand-selected from the Nicholas Vineyard on Old Mission Peninsula. Nicholas Vineyard is farmed by Chris Fiferak, a dedicated, meticulous vineyard manager, & Spencer's best friend.Chris dedicated this beautiful, successful property to his brother, Nicholas. Barrel fermentation & batonnage in new French Oak results in a full fruit driven wine w/ nuances of lightly toasted oak, ripe apples & a soft citrus finish. This wine is ready to enjoy now, but it will also age beautifully. RLS signifies the initials of Spencer's Father-In-Law. Spencer dedicated this wine to Lee for his love of quality oak-aged Chardonnays.

This is a delicious & refreshing brand new blend! Cépage (Say-pahj') : French for "grape variety." This term is often specified when several different grape varieties are employed from a vineyard - as is the practice in Bordeaux. We hand selected Rielsing, Pinot Gris, & a touch of Muscat to craft this fruity & tropical wine. This wine has flavors of peach, pineapple, & citrus! 1.25% RS

The beauty‏ of the Riesling varietal, besides its vibrant fruit flavors, is its versatility. The Riesling grapes pressed for this wine compose a dry style to complement some of Northern Michigan's cuisine. Enjoy this wine w/ fresh, grilled salmon or whitefish. Cooper, our 115 pound Bernese Mountain dog, was our official vineyard mascot & tasting room greeter. Cooper went to heaven in August 2010 & watches over the grape vines from above. His wine is full of ripe apple flavors, & a clean, sweet finish. Cooper wine is a crowd pleaser, just like Cooper was. Cheers!

The 2008 ‘2896’ is our seventh vintage of Merlot & Cabernet Franc w/ a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon all from the Langley Vineyard. This wine has proven to be one of the most sought after reds in Northern Michigan. ‘2896’ has an aroma of intense blackberry & plum, flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, & clove. With a rich velvety texture, & a perfect balance of fruit & oak integration. ‘2896’ is a fabulous addition to the BHV wine collection, & we are looking forward to many more vintages of Merlot & Cabernet Franc from the Langley Vineyard.

In our 20 years of farming grapes, this is only the second time we have produced this rare red blend we call our Claret. Our two most prized estate vineyards, Erica & Langley, produced a dynamically expressive blend of 34% Merlot, 65% Cabernet Franc, & 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Erica & Langley Vineyards gently slope toward Lake Michigan's Bowers Harbor, receiving sun exposure from East to West, & are composed of an earthy fusion of clay & sand. All the elements align to grow fruit rich in dark cherry, raspberry, & plum flavors, followed by hints of peppercorns.

Perfume of blackberries & cherries emanate from this single vineyard wine, which expresses soft fruit & an earthy character. The brick red color & extreme clarity begin the experience of this Burgundian style Pinot. The French Dijon Clone grapes, perfected Flowers Vineyards in Northern California, love our Northern Michigan climate. These grapes are a labor of love grown by Spencer's best friend, Chris Fiferak, who dedicated the Vineyard to his brother Nicholas. The silky, caramel, multi-flavored finish is due to the distinction in our French Oak Selection.

Bowers Harbor Vineyards is situated on the 45th parallel in the northwest corner of Michigan. Our cool climate region produces dynamically expressive varietal wines. Perfume of blackberries & cherries emanate from this six clone blend. The silky muti-flavored finish is due to the distinction in our French Oak selection. This Burgundian style Pinot Noir is lighter in color, but full in flavor, starting w/ aromas of cherry, & hints of caramel from the French Oak barrels. The Wind Whistle Vineyard on Leelanau Peninsula is farmed by Spencer's long time friend, Doug Mathies. The Wind Whistle block was planted in 2006, formerly a sweet cherry orchard w/ all day sun exposure. This special spot features sandy soil w/ great water drainage, & is only one half of a mile from Lake Michigan, extending its growing season but keeps cool enough to bring out the brightest fruit flavors. In addition, this vineyard is meticulously manicured; it is hand hedged, leaf picked, & hand harvested.

Cortland, Rome, Jonathan, & Gala Michigan Apples. Pressed frozen, just like Ice Wine, but w/ apples instead of grapes. This gives the dessert wine all natural sweetness, because the water molecules stay frozen, pressing out pure apple flavors & sugars. 9% alcohol 6% RS
