Coffee
Colombia Organic Ft Nacer(Med/Dark)
This coffee can be described as a little toasty with dried fruit (sounds like breakfast) and has some honeyed sweetness when roasted on the darker side of med/dark
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Organic Ft Oromia(Med)
From the birthplace of coffee and the home to all wild cultivars of arabica, our yirgacheffe reminds of tea rose and apricot flowers when roasted on the lighter side, with more chocolatey flavours when roasted more towards the med/dark side of our scale. Typically we strive to highlight the floral characters that ethiopia is known for.
Nicaragua Matagalpa Rfa Utz Organic(Med/Dark)
This coffee reminds me of vanilla extract and toasted almonds in a pan. Really well balanced, with mild acidity and an excellent persistence.
Nicaragua Organic Rfa Organic Dark (Dark)
Full bodied and sweet with a little more of a roasty taste than the mexican. the other half of our French roast
French roast rfa organic (dark)
Smooth dark and sweet pretty much characterizes our most popular blend. This blend is roasted right up to second crack and released before oil develops on the beans (that will develop a couple of days later)
Multatuli Gold Rfa Organic(Dark)
We created this blend for the kingston brewing company back in the day when there was smoking in pubs and we needed a big coffee that would stand up to all of the flavours and aromas inside a pub. Big body, persistent mouthfeel and smokey aroma.
Swp Decaf Organic Peru Chanchamayo (Dark)
Our swiss water process decaf switches between peru and mexico, but both offer a very full bodied decaf that lacks nothing in the cup. it is especially popular with our customers who mix it with our French roast for a half-caf option.
Costa Rica Rfa Ft Tarrazu (Med/Dark)
This year the costa rica coffee is spectacularly well balanced with a classic aroma. Falls a little more on the full bodied side than most centrals.
Peru Rfa Organic Chanchamayo (Med)
This is a beautiful coffee roasted on the lighter side of our med/dark scale that provides a base for many of our blends. It’s aroma is of chocolate and can lean towards pan drippings when roasted on the darker side.
Brazil Assodante Ft (Med)
This is a fruity and nutty coffee prized for it’s smooth and sweet character. When roasted a little darker, it is often used in espresso blends to add acidity and balance.
Mexico Rfa Chiappas(Dark)
This coffee is full bodied and aromatic, and provides half of the base for our much loved French roast. we roast it until oil begins to form a few days after roast, not too dark.
Sumatra Gayo Mountain Organic Ft (Dark)
Owing to the natural process of drying the beans inside the fruit, this coffee is earthy and sometimes pungent (early in the crop year) and provides maximum body for those seeking a big taste.
Mayan Fusion Rfa Organic (Med/Dark)
A combination of guatemala and mexican beans, this is a full bodied coffee with a smokey aroma and balanced acidity. I find it has a sort of clarified butter mouthfeel that lingers a little bit.
Espresso Rfa Organic(Dark)
This blend is an ode to classic italian espresso blends and has a huge body and mouthfeel, with an excellent acidic (fruity) finish at the bottom of the cup. Espresso needs to sit for at least 4 days before it can be used in a commercial espresso machine because the degassing process creates a very frothy shot is served before it’s done gassing.
Estate Coffees
Monsooned Malabar (Light)
This coffee is famous for its unique method of processing. The coffee is left on the coast of india during the monsoon season to replicate the shipping voyages of the 1700′s back to england. The coffee is nutty, salty and full bodied, but oddly is incapable of being roasted dark. No matter how long you leave it in the roaster, it remains a light colour, but don’t let the colour fool you…it has a huge taste profile.
Rwanda Aa Bourbon (Light)
This coffee is grown as a part of a reconstruction project for the people of rwanda and it has impressive flavour. We use it in our espresso blend (roasted dark) to provide earthy and wild flavours, but it also has a substantial fruity character owing to it’s extended fermentation. When roasted light, it offers a powerful fruity fragrance (dry) and aroma (wet) . It has excellent body and citrus character when brewed by the cup.
Estate Decaf Colombia
This coffee, believe it or not, has one of the best fragrances of all of our coffees. (Fragrance is the dry smell of the ground coffee as opposed to aroma which is brewed coffee) . It reminds me of pan drippings and caramelized onions. Definitely not a disappointment to drink this decaf.
Panama Hartmann Estate
This is of the boquette varietal that panama is famous for. Deep rich aroma, and perfectly balanced. I am very pleased to have this coffee in stock again after a prolonged search.
Cuba Turquino (Med/Dark)
Surprisingly sharp aroma with very subtle acidity on the front end. Full body and excellent persistence. Nutty, dry chocolate finish
