Beers
Local Flagstaff, Arizona microbrewery with an insatiable lust for exploring the world around us through fermented delights.
Mother Road Brewing Company Established: 2011
Driving on a dark stretch of two lane road, founders Michael and Alissa Marquess were pondering how to better live their creed of‘finding joy in the adventure’. They came up with a plan that brought together their passions of craft beer, travel, Arizona and the enjoyment of life;they decided to create a brewery. We hand craft each of our beers along Route 66 in Flagstaff in a 1920s era industrial building with a small staff of eight. We found craft beer, where does your road lead
Mother Road Twin Arrows ABV 5% IBU 27
Twin Arrows was designed from the ground up to be paired with food, and included in recipes. We created sweet, caramel flavors to pair with baked goods, barbecue, and cheeses. The hint of roast perfectly compliments chocolate, bacon, and grilled meats.
Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) American-Style Light (Low Calorie) Lager
PBR is not just any beer- so you would expect the history to be a bit unusual, and it is. Pabst was originally called Select with the can opener. Today this classic American brew has been adopted by a whole new generation of PBR drinkers. Currently PBR is one of the fastest growing domestic beer brands. When you're this good quality always comes through-PBR ME ASAP! ABV: 4.74%Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
HefeWeizen Wheat South German-Style Hefeweizen / Hefeweissbier
An unfiltered Bavarian wheat beer, effervescent and sweet, with an unmistakable banana-clove character. SanTan embraces pairing this beer with a lemon or orange, however we still believe it's best just the way it is! The fruitiness of Hefe pairs perfectly with curries and sweet dishes as well as fresh cheeses such as Mozzarella and Chevre. ABV: 5%IBUs: 15Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Weizen Glass
Twilight Summer Ale American-Style Pale Ale
The top’s down. The burgers are grilling. The shadows are long. The days stretch late into the evening. Summer has its own rules. And, at Deschutes, its own beer. We brew Twilight Ale to be a lighter, but full-flavored ale with a balanced malt profile and a harmonious blend of four hops. Then a final heady dose of bold Amarillos creates a distinctive finish. We took Twilight as a challenge. The chance to prove that light doesn’t mean boring. Some beers go perfectly with foods, this one pairs with lawn chairs, bare feet and life kicked-back. Best enjoyed chilled and served outside. ABV: 5%IBUs: 35Availability: SeasonalGlassware: Pint Glass
Kilt Lifter Strong Ale
Kilt Lifter is our award-winning flagship brew. Made in the tradition of great strong ales from Scotland. This is the beer that made Four Peaks famous. Take one sip and you’ll swear it was brewed by men in kilts. And maybe it was. Notice it’s amber color, malty sweetness and a hint of smokiness. A true Scottish Ale. The only thing missing here is a man with a funny accent playing the bagpipes. ABV: 6%IBUs: 21Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
Arrogant Bastard Ale American-Style Pale Ale
Arrogant Bastard Ale is an American strong ale. It is marketed by warning potential consumers that they are "not worthy" of such a beer. It is a popular beer among craft beer aficionados. Local designer/illustrator Thomas K. Matthews created the original gargoyle in 1996. He also drew the Arrogant Bastard Ale, Stone Ruination IPA and Stone Levitation Ale gargoyles, as well as barley and hops motifs. ABV: 7.2%Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
Pluot ABV: 10%
Hook up a plum with an apricot and they’ll make you a pluot. This sweet hybrid fruit is as refreshing as it is strange, and it’s the perfect starting point for our new Lips of Faith beer. Pluot Ale pours a bright, light golden. The aroma is full of fruit tones and distinct esters from blending the funky brettanomyces and our house Belgian ale yeast. The flavor carries the same weight, adding a spicy, vinous subtlety to stand up against the malt backbone. To build a beer around this worldly fruit is purely Belgian in imagination. Pour some Pluot and enjoy! Rotational Series.
Union Jack American-Style India Pale Ale
Union Jack abounds with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is double dry hopped, giving it more and more of the grapefruit, citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over four pounds of pacific-northwest hops per barrel. ABV: 7.5%IBUs: 70Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
IPA American-Style India Pale Ale
We took the traditional IPA, originally shipped from England to India in the 1700′s, and made it bolder and more flavorful – American Style. We’ve added new varieties of highly aromatic American hops to create a distinctive bitterness profile and an incredible hop character. ABV: 7%IBUs: 60Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
Chainbreaker White IPA American-Style India Pale Ale
ABV: 6.2%Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
90 Shilling Scottish-Style Export Ale
We introduced 90 Shilling, our flagship beer, at our opening party in 1989. For a while, we’d been wondering what would happen if we lightened up the traditional Scottish ale? The result is an irresistibly smooth and delicious medium-bodied amber ale. The name 90 Shilling comes from the Scottish method of taxing beer. Only the highest quality beers were taxed 90 Shillings. A shilling was a British coin used from 1549 to 1982. We think you’ll find this original ale brilliantly refreshing, and worth every shilling. ABV: 5.3%IBUs: 27Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pilsner Glass
Wanderlust Vanilla Chocolate Stout ABV 6% IBU 22
A truly multicultural beer. We started with a recipe of a classic oatmeal stout, and then started heading south. We picked up some vanilla beans in mexico, and then made a stop in columbia for some coffee before heading back north. The result is a deliciously drinkable beer with enough coffee and vanilla in it to give you an impression that it might be good in your morning cereal.
Mother Road Imperial Black IPA ABV 8.0% IBU 100
A robust imperial IPA that balances the malt characteristics with 100 IBUs of bitterness and finishes with roast and coffee flavors from the Black Patent malt. This big, balanced beer drinks smoothly. We dedicated this beer to those stretches of Route 66 lost in time. Urs brewed this for a fun seasonal, but our guests insisted on it and now it’s a Mother Road staple
TailGate Blonde (Green Room Blonde) ABV: 5.0% IBU: 19
Blacktop Blonde is our homage to you, the tailgater. It is our way to say, “We see you out there on the blacktop and we know you’re thirsty.” This is why you deserve a 100% natural craft beer brewed with the same stuff cavemen used thousands of years ago. Named with the help of “Jay the Tailgate Guy,” this is an American blonde ale that stays true to form. Bold use of magnum and cascade hops create a soft, subtle spice that sets this easy drinker apart from the rest. Beautiful golden malts complete this light colored, easy drinking ale. Crack one of these beauties wherever you are
Dos Equis Lager Special American-Style Premium Lager
Dos Equis Special Lager is a refreshing, crisp, golden, lager style beer imported from Mexico. Made with roasted malts, choice hops, a unique strain of yeast and purified water, this distinctive brew is known simply as “Lager” in its homeland. ABV: 4.45%Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
Crisp Apple Fruit Cider
This crisp and refreshing cider offers sweet apple notes upfront with a subtle dryness at the finish for a balanced cider taste. The addition of Fuji apples adds a layer of complexity and brings out a fresh apple aroma and slightly sweet, ripe apple flavor. ABV: 5%Availability: Year Round
Double Pilsner American-Style Pilsener
We feel the eyes of tradition upon us whenever we brew our Double Pilsner. But this beer is not just our tribute to the classic Bohemian pilsner – it’s our own craft interpretation of it. Refreshing and delicate yet bold and assertive, its clear golden color leaves nowhere for imperfections to hide but plenty of room for mystery. ABV: 8.1%Availability: Seasonal Glass ware: Pilsner Glass
Stranger American-Style Pale Ale
Initial impressions are not always reality, so you must delve deeper. Beyond the initial floral hop aromas, malt sweetness is revealed, yet with a spicy undertone that exposes a very rye sense of humor. Take your time to get to know the Stranger. It’s strangely satisfying. ABV: 6%IBUs: 36Glassware: Pint Glass
Pale Ale American-Style Pale Ale
Our most popular beer, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, is a delightful interpretation of a classic style. It has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor. “Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the flagship beer, the one that made Chico famous. It is a flawless beer that opens with bright, perky high notes of maltiness and orange blossom and segues into a delectable hoppiness.” ABV: 5.6%IBUs: 37Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
St. Lupulin Extra Special Bitter
A mystical legend echoes in our brew house – that of St. Lupulin (loop-you-lin) the archetypal hophead. He devoted endless summers to endless rows of hops, tending to the flowers and the beloved resin within – lupulin. Extraordinary oils in this yellow resin provide this dry-hopped extra pale ale with an undeniably pleasing floral aroma and clean, crisp finish. One sip of this seasonal summer ale and you too, will believe. ABV: 6.5%IBUs: 46Availability: Seasonal Glass ware: Pint Glass
Milk Stout Sweet or Cream Stout
Dark and delicious, America's great milk stout will change your perception about what a stout can be. Preconceived notions are the blinders on the road to enlightenment. Udderly delightful. ABV: 6%IBUs: 25Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
IPA American-Style India Pale Ale
This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you're on. ABV: 5.7%Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass
Pinstripe Red Ale American-Style Amber/Red Ale
ABV: 5.15%IBUs: 42Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Pint Glass Brewed with caramel malts and fruity hops it has a slight fruity finish that will dance with your tastebuds till 2a.m, take them home and not make it wierd the next day.
Fat Tire American-Style Amber/Red Ale
Named in honor of our co-founder's bike trip through Europe, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer's home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Together with co-founder, Kim Jordan, they traveled around sampling their home brews to the public. Fat Tire won fans with its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness. ABV: 5.2%IBUs: 18.5Availability: Year Round Glass ware: Snifter Glass
