- Early flight? Security can often be quite busy, and most of the line is behind the glass wall, so don't assume there's no line if you see the outside queue empty!
- Kristin WolffAugust 26, 2013There's a cute lounge (not just for frequent flyers), on the third floor. Elevator right between Tim Horton's & Starbucks. Get yourself a coffee & head on up. Good viewing.Upvoted Sep 6
- Stefanie WatchmanMay 19, 2014The Eagle's Nest Observatory Level is amazing. Quiet, comfortable and pre-security. Sneak behind Timmy's/Starbucks and take the elevator to the third floor.
- BuckAugust 23, 2017Do what ever you can to fly with anyone other than #aircanada and you're experience here will be a pleasant one!!
- Lauren HeppsOctober 6, 2014The flights here are good! Go here if you want to get off the island and don't want to deal with ferry traffic! Winter flights will probably always be delayed.
- Miguel LizarragaAugust 19, 2016One of the nicest and more relaxed airports I have been. I just love it!
- Get there early now for morning flights. The half hour before boarding time is no longer enough time. They have lots of morning flights going out.
- If you have time grab a flight at Spinnaker's. But be warned, it's big!! Cheers!
- Heather MillerFebruary 23, 2014Security lines can be crazy on a Sunday, but if you're late, the people are so kind that they let you into the front of the line. This DOES NOT happen in Toronto!
- Grab a spinnakers beer... The prices are great, not your typical airport $$... Don't be whimpy, get a big one! ;0)
- Cloud 10 shuttle and tours is a great alternative to taxi. Dimitri picked us up at home in Langford at 0330. Very pleasant ride to the airport
- Annie LoungiepantsJanuary 17, 2014Staff is brilliant. The elder lady behind the ibfo booth is so sweet and helpful, she made sure I got on the right bus to downtown.
- If you looking for a nice hotel to stay at close by try the airport Travelodge. They have a shuttle available call 250-656-1176
- Alex GoncarovsJune 21, 2013Wish I'd had the 'chill' security...Apparently the tiny airport has to pick through everything that a daily traveler in major international airports never has an issue with. Vino is good.
- There is spotty bus service from the airport to downtown. Best to take the Akal airport transporter ($19) or the taxi ($55-$65). The taxi drivers are very informative, maybe with the fare.
- Maxine LevineJune 1, 2014Free wifi. All the staff (including security) are really nice. Currently the airport is under construction.
- Salt Spring Air PhilipFebruary 22, 2011If you miss your flight and no others are available try jumping on the seaplane and flying over to yvr to catch one www.saltspringair.com
- Louise HigginsNovember 3, 2010Head to the Roost on your way to/from the airport (at the lights at the corner of McTavish & East Saanich Rd. Try the meatloaf sandwich - you can't go wrong
- Even though it's small, I've learned the hard way that when it's busy, it's busy. Missed a 5:30am flight to Vancouver showing up 40min before. Today super long security line up had people panicking.
- Derek BowenApril 25, 2014Nice restaurant after security now with lots of power outlets under the high seat counters.
- Hoping to bus to or from here with BC Transit?? LOL, ya, good luck with that... Service is a total disaster and the main transfer exchange is over 1 km from here!
- Beth WickenheiserJuly 10, 2013Don't need to arrive to early. Very relaxed, friendly security staff. Wonderful airport.
- Beatrice AOctober 31, 2011For parents/caretakers of little kids: on the second floor beside gates 1 & 2 are a small play area and a TV set to Treehouse.
- Check out this cool 3D fly through of the new airport facilities http://youtu.be/ZVDFm9rprOU
- Steph WhiteJuly 5, 2012Bring your own food & booze to enjoy in the lounge before boarding. Everything closes super early!
- Wendy GingrasMarch 24, 2012Great restaurant close to the airport. You can watch the planes while you eat great food. http://www.spitfiregrill.ca/
- Tiny--but efficient airport. Most flights depart from a central airside waiting lounge.
- Sabrina SawatskySeptember 22, 2014Small but clean and well organized airport. The public transportation is awful!
- Pretty quick to get through security on a Tuesday morning. Security staff were pretty nice.
- There are often long security lines in morning as big east coast non stops leave.
- The breakfast wrap from Spinnakers (inside security) is amazing and takes only 5 or 6 minutes to prepare. Don't bother with Tim Horton's, get some real food!
- Ask an agent for a guest pass if you are not flying but still need to go through the security check point.
- Don't show up before 4:30 am as security isn't open till then.
- No priority line at YUJ, so be sure to check in at least 45 minutes ahead.
- If you have to bus from here dont get on the Brentwood bay bus that stops here its a rediculous milk run.
- With the completion of the mactavish renovations it is somehow more seamless to bus to and from yyj than yvr!?
- Louise HigginsOctober 29, 2010Birds live in the airport, you can see & hear them on the lower level in the trees
- Waiting for an arrival? Try whitespot, it's the express version which means the food is served quickly.
- Second security screening for US destination is in effect since Dec 2009; make sure you get through the first security check early.
- Lee ChisholmNovember 30, 2009You don't need to get here too early, very relaxed airport. Security is very chill too. Nice staff!!!
