The joys of the crapest train network in Britain..
If anyone can help add to this list with Pictures / Tips for places that haven't already got one, please tweet me @alistairgammond
James Vertigan: Trains usually every half an hour between Greenford and Paddington (7 minutes journey time from here to Paddington). No stopping services on Sunday.
julian: If you're trying to get a west bound train from Platform 3 during evening rush hour, don't try and get on via the first two doors as everyone else does and it gets too crowded. Move down the train.
Stefano Bucaioni: Platform 2 trains to Southall, Hayes and Heathrow Central at 15 and 45 past every hour. Platform 1 trains to West Ealing, Ealing Broadway and Paddington at 09 and 39 past every hour.
Tim West: You are unable to pay by cash after the ticket office closes. You can use the self serve device and buy Permits to Travel which you must exchange for a full ticket as soon as possible.
J Juggernaut: Don't use the 2 cash machines just out side, they've been targeted by criminals who use readers to clone your card. Lost an entire pay check to them 2009.
orfy: Local kittens have a habit of congregating on the rails just beyond the platform, but don't worry, they're canny enough to clear off before the Marlow Donkey arrives.
Cholsey & Wallingford Railway: Cholsey Station is also the home of the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway running heritage steam & diesel trains from Plat 5 on selected days. Check www.cholsey-wallingford-railway.com for more details.
Hazel Nicholson: Go up in the lift and avoid the ticket check on the stairs up to the bridge. Useful if you just want to use the toilet or see somebody off.
QP: This station gets incredibly busy. If everybody parks considerately then we'd fit a few more cars in before having to fill up the verges on the main road.
Jez Batten: try and walk out of thr front door when the sun is going down over the city of worcester, breathe taking. Reminds me of a city run my muppets and inhabited by idiots. Because it is. Dont eat in worcs.
Jamie-Rhys Page: Easy to follow station platform next to office goes Hereford way and platform opposite goes London Birmingham way however there is no self service machine and ticket office only manned peak times :-(
RailHelp.co.uk: Platform 1 for stations to London, Bristol and Cardiff with various connections from there. Platform 2 for stations to Birmingham and the north.
Tim Reed: Get a Travelcard for all zones if you travel in the afternoon. You can't get one for a single zone, has to be all. And the machine won't let you know. Should save some time :-)
The Mobile Pizzeria LTD: This tip applies to all stations across the globe. Stand next to the older gentleman in a suit who looks weary from a life of city banking on the platform. He knows where the train doors will stop!
Paul Oram: New barriers mean you always have to get a ticket before boarding (including Gatwik Express). Expect long ticket queues as the machines baffle way too many people.
Jay Blayk: Trains can be few and far between depending what time of the day you travel, the Plymouth city bus service 45 now starts outside the station taking you either to ivybridge town center or plymouth xx
Mark Jansen: This place really is in the middle of nowhere! Not all trains stop here. There is a Magnificent Music Machines museum of WurliTzer organs etc next to the station.
