- Amanda FAugust 19, 2013Great museum, even without the special exhibits (didn't budget for the extra cost). If you're an ASTC member and are traveling the requisite distance, admission is free!
- Downtown IndyJuly 17, 2014The Indiana State Museum is Indiana’s museum for science, art, and culture, offering a place where you can celebrate, investigate, remember, learn, and take pride in Indiana’s story.
- Dana ParkerFebruary 9, 2015Lovely museum, bright and well laid out. Their exhibits are always well laid out and informative. The gift shop has a lot of cool local stuff
- Tim RoutMarch 30, 2013Spend a little extra and get the annual membership, it gets you into museums around the country, free parking and free popcorn at the IMAX every time
- Best view of the city, right outside their canal doors.
- Ask at the ticket counter for a "monthly gallery search" packet. Find the hidden objects and your kids win a very cool prize at the end! (July's is a genuine mastodont bone!)
- Hiedi EMay 13, 2016Find all the mastodons! The 200 years of statehood exhibit was extremely fascinating.
- Erik RowleyNovember 21, 2016I spent a long time looking for these hidden earthworms and still have not found them!...did the opossum eat them?

- If you're from out of town, the information desk by the garage entrance has maps to the city and the volunteers can tell you all the best places to go.
- New RadarOctober 8, 2011Great venue for wedding! Other times, check out the IMAX or just take a walk on the canal.
- Great exhibits and lovely displays plus the location is gorgeous.
- Catrina SmytheJune 20, 2017Skip WWI exhibit. Went explicitly for Father's Day, it's only a few uniforms scattered about. Park system=tech issue. Chased down for $, had just paid (only 1 other family there-forgot already??)
- At the Canal Cafe, the grill guy will cook you almost anything you ask for. And, if you don't see "chicken velvet soup", you can request it anyway. Read more
- Be sure to check out the 92 County Walk around the outside of the museum. Sculptures and artwork to represent each county are so fun and interesting!
- The cafe really isn't bad, the food is decent and fair priced. You can sit outside on a nice day, overlooking the canal.
- Chicken Velvet soup is all you need to know. If you don't, you've been warned.
- Not at all impressed with new cafe. While the food is delicious, it is no longer cost effective for a family. It will no longer be our go to place. :(
- 92 county walk around outside of museum is way cool; get a map from Guest Services to explain all. Read more
