All the best spots in this charming little nabe are gruff, older fixtures or newer, happenin' joints. Either way, as a native for longer than a quarter-century, I guarantee you their awesomeness.
Jean 💜: Why hasn't anyone mentioned the cheese pateuri?? You-can-kill-me-now good, no lie. I'm sure the ones with the other fillings are ridiculous too. The crispier, not-too-sweet cookies are also addicting.
Jean 💜: Baklava is UNREAL. This coming from someone who doesn't normally care for it. A must!! Also, their plain croissant is irresistibly awesome even when it's long been at room temp.

Jean 💜: Right above the awesome rows of obviously non-American potato chips are the equally enticing rows of non-American chocolate candy bars. 70% Cacao KitKat bar? Gimme a break, stat.
Jean 💜: The one thing that I see non-Latin customers get again and again (myself included) is the croissant. Flaky shell, soft, pillowy insides.. on a whole. 'nutha. levo. Starbucks and DD would weep.
Jean 💜: I stopped by on my way home after work and got my usual from Columbian bakeries: pan de bono. Not sure if it was just the right time/place but it was warm and cheesy and ridiculously good.
Jean 💜: With ethnic dramas being shown on the TV, the restaurant almost feels like the owner's living room. Food is chock full o' home cooking goodness. Say yes to the veggie jalfrezi.
GourmetLive: Chef Michael Ginor had a taste of Turkey with the Adana Kabab. “It’s very well seasoned and made with ground lamb and grilled on real charcoal for a nice depth of flavor.”
Jean 💜: Try any of their baklava and other such similar looking dessert pastries displayed underneath the register. Flaky yet hearty squares of divine nuts and honey.
Jean 💜: Some say owner/chef Robin Kawada opened the 1st sushi restaurant in Manhattan in 1975! In addition to this Queens outpost, Kawada owns a 15-seater in Japan. Too legit to quit.
Dana D: Fantastic new addition to Sunnyside! A staple tent at Smorgasburg, great to see Cemitas with a brick-and-mortar venue. Fantastic sandwiches, burritos, and tacos in a cozy atmosphere. A must visit.
Jean 💜: Bare storefront does not offer a too much of a dine-in option but quality of food - on par with, if not better than, Dee Thai - more than makes up for it.
Jean 💜: The marinated wings are juicy and bursting with flavor. Original boneless fried chicken is by no means dry but definitely not as tasty as the saucy wings in terms of size and taste.
Jean 💜: Khao soi is the best I've tasted in Queens so far. The noodles were al dente (not a sloppy mess like other places) and the curry just spicy-sweet enough. A lovely comfort food option!
