- Alison SteeleMarch 12, 2017The absolute best Chinese food I have ever had in my life, especially if you like authentic and spice! Definitely go for the dry spicy chili chicken and soup dumplings.

- Mya DonnJune 8, 2017This restaurant's mere 7.1 rating on Foursquare makes me doubt this app. It's really great food, it's a beautiful space (don't let street entrance fool you), and the staff are genuinely friendly.
- Chicago TribuneApril 16, 2015Order the peking duck. Carved tableside, the first nibble you get is a dish of crispy skin with brown sugar, followed by the duck served with all the sauces, cucumber and scallion you expect. Read more
- Lucille FisherNovember 30, 2022I like that they are located right on Michigan Ave! No need to go to Chinatown for authentic Chinese cuisine. Extensive menu and so far been pleased w/ every dish we‘be ordered. Will keep coming back!
- BiancaAugust 23, 2019One of the best Chinese places in town. Tricky entrance, but the resto looks ok. Love their won tons, the spicy chicken and curcumin lamb. Must try!
- Harley AcresApril 19, 2016Good, authentic Chinese food. The spicy cabbage is complementary and delicious. Kung Pao is quite good.
- Peking duck is a bit pricey but really good. They do paper-thin pancakes instead of buns.
- Chef's Special Dry Chili Three Delight (shrimp, scallop, squid)
- David SolomonJanuary 27, 2019Higher end Chinese restaurant. You can watch them make dumplings to order and roast the ducks in a brick oven.
- MacchaFebruary 26, 2022Sole Fish fillet with chilli bean sauce, Peapod leaves with garlic, lamb cumin, Szechuan wanton
- I love the food in the sit down part. I don't know why they started doing buffet, skip it.
- My first visit I was very disappointed by how bland it was. But my friend told me to give it another try, and ask for traditional Asian level spiciness. Now on visit 6.... :D
- Joshua HaftelJanuary 15, 2015Quite disappointed. Seems to have a different menu than the other locations, couldn't find some options recommended on blogs. The dry chili chicken had no Sichuan peppercorns and was lacking depth.
- Surprisingly good food, service was a bit slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy
- NandAugust 12, 2018Pathetic service, waitress don't care to check on the guests, waited for our food for more than an hour while all other guests who walked in later had their food and few of them even had their checks
- Jill Heins NesvoldMay 23, 2023The food was great, the service not very good. Had to wait work minutes for someone to seat me. Then another 10 for waitstaff.
- Jeremi S.May 12, 2018We visit Lao every year we come to Chicago. I used to love the restaurant but this year all dishes were just way to spicy and the one’s that weren’t too spicy, were just lacking the final touch.
- Song ZhaoMarch 6, 2016family午餐, 老四川之城市中心店。 @foodiechicago. 这里点缀现代话, 不是古典中国点缀。 比唐人街的店大的很多。 Lao Szechuan downtown restaurant, had more modern decor, not typical traditional Chinese decor. Much bigger. More high end feel!
